Do you believe happiness comes from outside of you? Or do you believe it comes from within? Can you be happy no matter what is going on around you? I am working on this question and would like your ideas on it.

Hi savypat, Only a few people find real happiness and that is because the secret is so simple that most people never consider it. It has nothing whatever to do with outward conditions and comes from within. This is what Jesus Christ meant when he said,"the kingdom of God is within you". The secret to happiness is to live in the moment, this is the only time we have so we must be happy now. Happiness is not something that we can attain, it is something that we must BE. This is why some people are happy under the most deplorable conditions and others are never happy, with all that money can buy. Right now, no matter what our circumstances, we can decide to be happy, in fact it's the only way we can. Many people say, "I'll be happy when I have a better job", or "I'll be happy when the children are grown" or again, "I'll be happy when I retire", only to find that they are still not happy, because they do not understand that the only time we can be happy is now. Blessings.

Good for you, you understand thee meaning of being in the NOW. Why humans have evolved in a way that makes this so difficult to attain I don't know.

Hi savypat, I think happiness comes within.I think a person can control whether or not they are happy. I always say, fake it until you make it.

Happiness is a treasure. The key to happiness is found in simple things like the gifts of joy that daily living brings. Happiness is a state of mind where we do not hurt anyone's feelings. It is often said "neither give sorrow, not take sorrow." In other words, although we may not hurt someone's feelings, others may insult and rob us of our happiness. We may be affected for a few moments but we should immediately bounce back and have only good wishes for that person. Happiness is a daily decision.

Hey pat! I believe that happiness comes from within you! I believe that it can possibly be influenced by what is going on outside of you, especially if it is negative. You might be happy and then in turn will take on whatever bad feelings you get from whatever is going on around you and your whole attitude will change. But, I truly do believe that happiness come from within!

well, i`m not happy at all. i need to do so many thing to be trully happy. I`m not satesfied with my body, with me, because i don`t earn my own money yet, i`m not satesfied with a girl, that thinks we are together, but mostly i`m not satesfied with my body. I think that when i`ll be satesfied with my body, i`ll be happy, and when i`ll have my own income i`ll ne happier. Now, i can`t be.

Well are you working on your body? Are you sure you want to be happy or do you just want certain goals and then you won't be happy until you reach other goals? This is what happens when you reach outside yourself to be happy. Myself I am trying to keep the power to be happy within myself, because that is the only way I can control it.

Yes I believe that a person can be happy no matter what is going on around them. True happiness comes from having a personal relationship with our Creator!

i asked most of my friends and they always come up with an answer like: yes, i am happy but i haven't been to Italy or yes, i am happy but only if my bf would buy me a ring - i hope you get what i mean. lol. though sometimes i admit that i may have expressed before that i can only be happy once i've gained all the materials things or the money or the positioned i really desire. but i would be really happy once i am at peace with myself. once i savor living my life in a simple way. be able to sleep well at night. worry free and most of all, to be able to find my purpose because until now, i still haven't found what i wanted to do and what i needed to do in my life. i would trade all i have just to get those i have mentioned. lol. and i think, once i am able to fulfill all of those, i know it would make me happy. be really secure about myself and then that would be the time that i can be able to help others because i have fulfilled what is needed for myself and i want to share what i have learned with them. =)
