one of my friends here, asked a very good question, she wanted to know why executions in the united states take place at night. I didn't know and I said I would google and find out,
so here is the link for the information: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1512922/why_are_executions_done_at_night_.html?cat=9
to make this into a discussion
why do you think executions are done at night?
did you know executions were done at night?
and if you are not from the united states when are executions done in your country,
and how are people executed there?

We don't have executions in England any more. Hanging was abolished several years ago, along with other executions. To be honest, I can't even remember what time of day they occured but I know that way back in ancient times, the public were allowed to gather and watch, so probably at dawn, or sometime during daylight hours. Gross, huh?
Brightest Blessings my friend.

I just read this article, and it's something interesting to think about. Having lived in Canada all my life, it's something I had never thought of. As for Victim's families, another interesting thing to think about. I've never been in the situation. Not quite sure if I'd want to watch the person be executed, but then I've never had a loved one murdered.

I have never thought about this question, winterose, but I will check out your link to the story. It did bring to mind that in reading and watching movies that were set in an earlier time executions were almost always carried out at dawn. I've always hated stories that feature any type of execution because they are so sad for me. I believe my fears are based on the classic movie I'll Cry Tomorrow. Two more that come to mind are The Hangman's Song and The Green Mile.

I personally think that their method of execution is flawed... the lethal injection and electric chairs are both thought to be excruciatingly painful. If I was to be executed I'd want to die with 6 bullets to the head and 2 to the heart.
executing in the UK is illegal.
I think executions are carried out at night because it'll get less disturbance from other prisioners who wil hopefully be asleep.
