Do you burn incense? I find I almost never burn incense anymore where I used to do it on an almost daily basis. I hate aerosol air fresheners and potpurri. They have irritants and allergens that make me sneeze and they can also make it difficult to breathe. I find that if I have a good quality incense it can have an aromatherapeutic effect as long as the area where you are burning it is well ventilated. I even used to burn sandlewood incense in the yard when I was pulling weeds because it was supposed to help deter mosquitoes. A nice smelling environment makes you feel good though and I like to burn jasmine and rose together.

Jasmine and rose together sounds great. I am very sensitive to the irritants in most air fresheners in any form. But I can burn incense without any problem. I don't know why but I just don't burn them very often. It has been so long that I don't even remember the smell I like best. I prefer very delicate smells.

Thanks for the best response, Canellita. You have motivated me to go shopping for incense this weekend. My geriatric dog is having bladder control issues lately. I am completely paranoid that carpet cleaning does not get the smell out of my house enough and as a result I haven't invited anyone to my home in ages. Incense may be just the thing to help with this paranoia. Thnx. :)

hi canellita...i used to for years. i was raised on incense. there was this pine incense that smelled like wood burning and would alarm people at first. hehe until they learned it was incense. i got away from it though. and about areosol freshners i've used them a lot but now hate them. i get a throat problem no matter how careful i am to not directly inhale while spraying. but any small amount at all now makes my throat feel like something is stuck in it. makes me cough and wakes me up at nite even. so i avoid it when possible. but i use a scented candle now cause i love a pleasant scent in the air.

Wow, I don't think I could have tolerated pine incense. I have a sensitivity to things that have pine oil.

I burn incense when I can. Right now, in the apartment that I live in, I'm not supposed to burn it so I don't. It can set off the fire alarm and I can be charged for it and all of that wonderful stuff. So it's not something that I do. When I'm not at the apartment and at my home, I like to burn a stick or two because it just makes the whole place smell so much better and makes the whole place feel very relaxing. I like having a comfortable living space.

I think I tried to burn it for like 1 second in the bathroom at a temp job in an office building to combat this horrible odor coming from the plumbing. People started freaking out so I didn't do it again. (LOL)
