More Powerful than God?

Greetings myLotters. Today my fiancee tried to explain a concept to me that I've never even considered before.
He proposed that our minds are more powerful than God because it is our mind that chooses to believe in Him or not. This was a weird concept for me that I've never considered before.
To me, we are nothing without God. If we choose to believe, God becomes the most powerful force in our life, but if we don't I wonder how life is for the non-believer? Is a non-believer's mind more powerful than God? I think not. I believe you become powerless without God.
What about you, what are your opinions?

God gives us the power to choose freely to believe or not to believe. Since that which grants the power is greater than the power they grant, God is greater than the capacity to believe or not believe

Also for your fiancée to suggest his mind is more powerful than God implies he believes in God, since otherwise his claim is empty!

Urban has the idea right, I think. Our minds are as God made them, including the free will to use them as we do. I've always thought there's a tiny piece of God in each of us, and that's why humans can be so great, if we choose to be!
Welcome to MyLot! You'll find a lot of interesting discussions and wonderful people here!

I have to agree with urban. It was God who gave us free will and who gave us the minds that we have with the ability of abstract thought and self awareness. Since it was He who gave these things to us in the first place, we cannot be more powerful than Him by the simple fact that we use them. That would be like saying that you are more powerful than your boss because you decide how to spend the money he pays you. He's still the one with the power when it comes to your employment.

Our mind is a part of our soul. Our soul is our personality. It is also the part of man that can be considered as self. We can trust in our self. We can learn and do things by our selves. But by doing that we are declaring independence from GOd. Man is composed of three parts and not just two. In a worldly point of view, man is composed of just body and soul, while in the view of God, man is composed of body, soul and spirit. When body is combined to spirit, the soul will be formed. what God wants to us is that we should use our spirit just like Jesus use his. Our spirit is the only part of man that can reach God. But how will you know if you are using your own soul or your spirit?
I'll not reveal it in here. if your really interested just PM me.
