Chicken or Egg? Which do YOU think was first?

Personally I strongly and firmly believe it was the chicken. Think about it, all domesticated animals started out wild. The birds we now think of as chickens not only come in a lot of varieties (even seen a catalog?) they mix and mingle all the time. If a siamese cat can mate with a persian and a labrador with a sharpee (spelling?) why wouldn't some birds do the same thing? We see it with parakeets. It's one of those natural selection kinds of evolutionary things. Don't you think?

since God created fish first, I would say the egg, then the chicken after mammals are made

For me what came first is chicken. Whenever I was asked this question I always stand for my own belief that chicken came first. Of course we could not tell when did they came but we can always use as reference the Bible. It says there that God created animals and so chicken cam first. And in all other animals that lay eggs I always believe that they came first before their eggs.

I have not seriously looked into it to see when the first domestic chickens show up in history but you have the right idea!

I go with the chicken also. If only for the fact that if the egg came first it wouldn't have hatched.

Until recently I did not know that birds could lay eggs without a "partner."
