Well I would call it changed living style. I did my schooling in a small city and I used to cover about 2 km distance on foot with lot of other physical activities. We had a cow in the house and the green fodder for it used to be fetched on a cycle, again 2km. Now I am staying in Delhi but when I visit my city (grown big of course)the buses or Maruti vans drop the the school children right at the door step. I hardly see children playing in the streets because they are busy with their video games or TV. Excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides has led to toxic food. Our eating habits have changed, fast foods and all that! But you have to pay the price for 'development', isn't it Ketan?

The reasons are various. People have too much money to spend on food... and as a result eat too much. People don't have time to cook a healthy meal... and eat junk food and takeaway food instead. People don't exercise because they are either too busy or too lazy. More and more people are working in offices... and since they are sitting behind a computer the whole day long... they need to exercise. People don't want to eat simple healthy food anymore. Everything needs to have sauces and spices to give it extra taste. It is the sauce which make you fat. It is doubtful that you would get fat from eating lean meat and vegetables. It is all the other ingredients you add to it which make you fat. It is also the small goods that people eat before their meal or between meals. The cheese, salami, the dips. All of those things are super rich in calories and are sure to make you fat.
