Can you imagine living for so many years as Tom Hanks character did in this movie? And that poor little mouse. I don't want to live into my 90's so I can't imagine living so long and never knowing when it would end.
Life is great and all that, but daggone, how many bills do you want to have to pay in your lifetime and how many heartaches could you stand in one lifetime. I have lost a lot of people in my life and it hurts like you can't beleive. But to out live every single person that I ever loved or cared about? No thank you. John Coffey didn't do his friend any favors when he passed this gift on...... Just a thought.
Would any of you want to live that long?

Me either, that would be a killer to see your children die before you. I know that happens all the time, but it would really destroy me. They would have to put me in the insane asylum for that......

Living that long could be good and bad. Seeing the way things in the world would be great. Everyone has dreams of being around for things in the future that they probobly wont live long enough to see. Everything from technologies to even little but big things like a cure for the common cold. The possibilities of the mind are endless. At the same time who would want to live that long. The way this world is I'm not sure i want to see to far into the future. I'm kind of scared of some of the things that will happen and how much will change. I'm 20 and i cant even keep up with half of the things happening. Outliving everyone I ever cared about though would not be so great. That alone could drive a person cynical. It's just that way of life that we live long enough to live a full life and pass away. Or even go very early in our lives. I know that one day i will be ready to die, It's probably better than being able to live on an early retierment haha. Like I said the possibilities are endless it would just depend on who you are and how you use your immagination. I could go on and on about it but ill just leave you to your immagination about it. :-)

You are so right Mr. Goodguy. Great observations. I will have to let them run through my mind for a while!

oh i so loved that movie. watch it again every once in a while. it really hit home because when i was in the penecostal church years back the preacher told me i had been given the gift of healing. not trying to brag here if it sounds like that. he said everyone when they get saved is given a gift. some just dont know what their gift is. Anyway it surprised me that a movie came out with this theme and that obviously Stephen King believes in these things. tho i dont think anyone could ever live forever in this world. no, i wouldnt want to either. because im not sure how many more people i would grieve over as i have my late hubby and dad. im in great fear of my little dog going before me and its likely i'll have to face that if i dont go soon.

90 years old is not enough for me. I rather live till 150 years old.
Since I'm not the richest person, not the most intelligent person, not the most beautiful person, the only way I can be famous is to live the longest.
Once live beyond a hundred years old, even better beyond 120 years old, making money is easy. Just go around and tell people what to eat, how to think, how to be healthy and the money will just flow into the pocket.
After that, find a ghost writer and commission a book teaching people how to live a healthy long life.

I love the book and I love the movie! I cried for John Coffey, and no I would not want to live that long. I hope that God gives me many good years to live but not forever, not in this life. In the next life we do live forever so what do you think about that?
