laptop vs. desktop...

Which do you prefer and which one do you have?... Not the brand just the actual computer... I have a desktop that we have had for several years now, that is my computer, what I go on every day, and now what I use to visit all my ptc, gpt, and forums... my husband just purchased a laptop due to a different line of work he is looking into and will need a laptop to go out with him on jobs... that got me thinking, which do you use and which do you prefer?

i prefer a laptop every day of the week, I have a touch screen desktop but just use that for the kids to watch tv on and if I am on the laptop they can surf on there too. Tho for gaming and my online mlm business I use the laptop as alot easier to pack away and very portable

my hubby has a laptop now, and I think I would like one too... not that we can get one now since the budget is super tight, but I think eventually I will get one too. I dont have a problem with my desktop, since it is the only one I have right now...LOL thanks for the response.

The basic difference is mobility of course! I have both but I still prefer to work on a PC, I find it lot more convenient with a bigger key board and lot of other added facilities.

well, i use both. At my parents, we have a desktop, and mostly, i`m the one who use it, when i`m home, but as i am in other city, i have a laptop.I just buyed one, because it was hard for me to go with the hole desktop from a rent to another, and so on. But now it`s so easy to move this laptop. I love both, there isn`t any difference, just maybe the mobility. I love the laptop because i can see movies or play games or even surf the net during the long trip till my parents.

We have a desktop that myself, my husband and pre-teen daughter were sharing. It wasn't working out and I knew with my daughter doing a lot of homework assignments online we needed a second computer. Getting another desktop was a dilemma as to where we would put it. After giving it a lot of thought, we purchased a laptop which my daughter and I share. All my husband does is fantasy sports which doesn't place a lot of risk of viruses. My daughter and I are all over the internet and it really is easier for us to share the laptop. I like that it is portable unlike the desktop which keeps you secluded to the room where it is. With the laptop you can be anywhere. At first I missed the mouse but I really don't anymore. Plus with a back injury and limitations on how I need to sit, I have a lot more flexibility.

yeah, last year hubby, my son (5), and I was sharing the desktop...that was not fun, so hubby got a laptop (he needed it for work anyway) and now it is just me and my son sharing this one... but I am on it much more right now because I am trying to make money online....LOL thanks for responding!!

I have a desktop at home. Everybody at home can use it. My nephew, my niece and my son. My wife and I have a laptop of our own. We used it at work. I invested on a laptop since it is badly needed for my work. I conduct training and do a lot of presentations. So obviously the laptop would be the best thing to use.

Computers - Laptop verses desktop
Right now I'm using the desktop computer. In a month or two I may switch back to the laptop. I really like them equally, I like having the option.

that is great you have the option of both... I can see the use of a laptop to be anywhere in the house and yet somehow the desktop makes me feel like I am working...LOL thanks for the response.

If you do, a duo core processor with at least 2GHz processor will do the trick. Most of the desktops are coming out now with upwards of 4Ghz. So, I can see why your friend would steer you in the direction of a desktop.

I have a laptop and often use a desktop. I listen to music and surf the net on the laptop because its easier for me. The desktop I usually play games and mess around on photoshop.

I dont get to use hubbys to much since it is really for work for him, so I dont know if I will prefer that or not...but it is nice when he sits in the living room, plugs it in..and it can go with him everywhere... I like that. but I can sit in the living room now, put in a movie for the kids and get on the computer right now, so that works. thanks for responding.
