Without regard to position:
AA-88
AK
AQ
AJ
These keep me out of trouble for the most part.

I would play all the hands that you have plus any pocket pairs. This is regardless to position. If I have pocket A's or K's I usually raise before the flop.
I have been known however to take the risky stand and bet with nothing or go with nothing just to see the flop. What I mean is if my hand sucks then Ill stay if I all I have to do is play the blind.

I actually use a position chart, very tight in early position and very open in late position, if the pot is unopened and I have a qualified hand in my mind I'm throwing in a raise. Any chance to gain chips I will use to my advantage.
