Hi all, we all have some feelings towards GOD. Some of us feel he is very loving caring always taking care of us.. but most of us only say this.. we mainly fear from him .. we do our work and good deeds because we fear he is watching us and if we don't do moral acts we will be punished. Is it the right way to think ? Do you fear GOD ?? Do you do moral acts because you are afraid of HIM or because you feel it is right to do good acts. When doing some immoral act you feel he will torment you for this or you don't feel this way??

I am most of the time afraid of God. I never spit in front of a temple. I never touch them with my dirty hands. I worship them whenever necessary. I am afraid of him. He is almighty and could do anything as he likes.

If you ask me I hate the word God-fearing slipping into our Indian psyche though English. If I can say there is word dharma-bhIru(= afraid of dharma) used in Sanskrit which is somewhat OK. But even this word has a regional(vernacular flavor. I haven't come across this word in mainstream Sanskrit texts. Yes, in Hindu Scriptures there are incidents, stories, and situations narrated- that could be treated as creating fear-driven-awe in God Almighty. But I find this as a very crude way to relate to God.I would like to see God as a Parent an Infinitely Compassionate and Nurturing One at that! There are very fearsome descriptions of Kali but one is encouraged to see compassion and love in the fearsome Kali! The eulogistic poetry describes how this is to be imagined too! In sum I would like to see God either as a Nurturing Parent or then as the famous Impersonal God of the Upanishads!

I don't fear God. I am TERRIFIED of him. The Bible calls Him a "great and terrible God." But I also love Him. He provided a way in which I can escape His certain wrath, His Son Jesus Christ. The older I get in Him, the more aware I am that He is Holy, and He expects the same of me. I see Him as a parent. He is my Daddy, not my Mommy. I am realising that I can't expect Him to come running to me every time I get myself in a pickle, like Mommy would do. I must think, I must be wise, I must endeavour to do the right thing, the wise thing to begin with. He is not going to continue to bail me out of pickles with my wife, my boss, my landlord, etc. He is sooner or later going to allow me to feel the pain of my choices. And that pain could very well mean a divorce for leaving the toilet seat up for the twentieth time since we've been married; a firing for falling asleep on the job, and not being hired anywhere else--and becoming homeless, maybe for life. Or standing before a judge and going to prison for life--for stealing a pack of gum, if I happen to live in a 3-strikes state. That is the nature of a father. You know, God revealed something to me in Summer 2007. Like human parents, He gets tired of being asked for forgiveness for the same sins over and over. Stuff we KNOW is wrong, yet we do it anyway. Myself included. The day is going to come when mercy and love will give way to certain judgment and Hell. And I totally believe that I can lose my salvation. In seconds. I swear, and there is no time to ask for forgiveness, for a heart attack stills my voice before I can get the words out. That would be His way of saying, "I don't want to hear it anymore." So I try to lead a totally Holy life. Do I miss it? Yes, and it SCARES me!

I see him mostly as a parent abhi. I know sometimes I feel guilty that I only run to God when I'm experiencing problems, and when everything's OK I don't even go to church anymore. But in reality God loves us whether we're good or bad just like any parent loves his/her child whether they're behaving or misbehaving. I don't think fear would help the relationship get any better. Respect would be the proper word for it. Have a nice day.

I should say... i feel more respect to our Creator same with myself and to people around. Yes fear to God is always there especially when you committed a venial sin that almost unforgivable to us a human being but for God everything is possible to have His forgiveness as long as we do it in a very sincere way.

I think of God like a very loving and kind parent, but at the same time, like any child I fear the wrath of my parents when I screw up big time. So maybe the fears we have of God are actually just fears of what he might do if we don't get pardon for out sins... Long live 3:30 am posting!

hi abhi_dude :) i fear God definitely yes :) and as a human being we commit mistakes and sometimes we choose the wrong path from right. and the guilt is there ofcourse, we do know that God is really do exists and as much as possible if we can avoid immoral acts we have to do the right thing/decision-i know with the help/guidance of HIM we can avoid that circumstances. and i think it's the same way also of treating God as our parent coz i fear my parents too whatever we have wrong doings we think of our parents if they will get mad or not and most especially God will feel the same way. just my two cents ;) thanks!:) Godabless!0=)

hi,really i feel god as parent.i wont afraid of him because god will take care of all of us and if we are in a correct manner and do good deeds in life there is no need to fear.the only god we can see in the world of my opinion is the sun.if sun doesnot rises then all the world is blind.so we should love and preach the god without fearing.

As a Christian, I have "reverential respect" for God, but there is no need to be scared of Him. The Bible even tells us that "fear is NOT from God. Fear comes through satan and his demonic principalities that work with him, just like the angels that work with Jesus, and don't bring fear to you either. Doing good deeds has nothing to do with a religious belief that one is OK. It is not by our works/good deeds that we are saved, but by God's free gift of salvation through "receiving/asking" Jesus to come into your heart and life. When you do that and begin to read the Bible and pray, that life of Christ begins to grow within you, and you are not so sin conscious, but more "righteous conscious." By that I mean that you just want to live as Jesus lived - loving and forgiving and being kind, etc. It doesn't mean that you'll never sin, and when you do, just ask forgiveness, and believe that He does forgive you, and go on with your life. The Bible says that their are only "two" sins that will NOT be forgiven: 1. Constantly saying that the miracles that Jesus did are from the devil - and - 2. Accepting the mark of the anti-christ, once he comes on the scene. God's love is far greater than the human understanding can take in, and He IS interested in each and everyone of us, and YES, He can see and know what is going on everywhere and with everyone. That is one of His marvelous characteristics - He is "Omnipresent" - everywhere all the time right now and in the future to come. See, I told you that the human mind couldn't understand Him. But seriously, as you do receive Jesus the Christ into your life, and read the Bible, you will slowly begin to see things and understand things more clearly. This has happened to me, and what a great change and blessing it has bought to my life. God bless

I feel God is caring and wants what is best for us. If however we go in the wrong direction we can be disciplined by Him just as you would discipline your own children if they did something wrong. I trust in Him for all my needs and to date He has never failed me in anything. I always ask Him to show me the way and guide me when I am not sure of the right path to take.

We don't all have some felling towards the gods. If there is a god it is more than a little egotistical to think that she has the time to keep her eye on you because you, as an individual, are so special that you deserve her undivided attention. People whose actions are governed by what they think god wants them to do scare me. This is the path that in extremes leads to killing in the name of god.

Of course I fear God that I avoid to do things that will provoke Him to anger as it is written "It is such a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the Living God." I avoid sin as much as possible for it will surely be offending to God. God is a Father to me and I don't want to hurt Him by sinning. I want always to maintain a wonderful relationship with God and this is possible by not comitting sins.

Normally I feel God as a stranger nowadays. I have been passing for so many difficult situations over the past 3 years that sometimes it seems he doesn´t care for me. Well, I am trying to think positively about him, that maybe he is testing me to get better stronger I don´t know. But I dont fear him.

I don't fear God, I think God is approachable and a source of power and that one has a connection with him from the within. I do work driven by my moral conscience and don't really believe in the hell theory. I do feel tormented by my guilt when I do something bad because my heart knows that it is not right and I believe that I am a gentle and loving person. Have a nice day!

If I am feeling terrible, then I am afraid of God. If I am feeling happy, then I feel God as a parent. I only fear God when I feel that I did something wrong. That is because I feel that he looks down upon me for my immoral act. But I always remind myself that God is a forgiving person, so that makes me feel less afraid of God. Also, those events always make me want to do less of bad acts so I can be perfect, but I know that is impossible since I am only human.
