Forgive me Facebookers for I have sinned......

Ahh that inimitable force called Facebook! Over 100 million members worldwide and I of course am one of them..... But I honestly can't stand the damn site! But these days, I've been requested as a friend repeatedly by many people from mylot and I of course am happy to be connected to them outside of this site, but this also means that I'm needing to go on to the site quite often now to keep track of all the activity!
So what I wished to do was apologize to all of you that have been poking me, prodding me, hugging me, adding wall comments, flagging me and sending me every application under the sun! I don't mean to be ignorant or stand-offish at all, I just struggle to find the time to get all caught up in these Facebook activities is all. And to be honest, I don't particularly understand the attraction to any of it! So forgive me for that aspect too as I appreciate each and every one of you, but just can't feel the motivation to go hard on this site.
What about you? Have you even found yourself completely on the outer when it comes to something like this? You know..... Everyone is getting all excited and active with something or other and you just can't bring yourself to share the same enthusiasm?

Jeez Stormy, you've certainly laid down some complex ground rules here! 100 songs??? It's taken me a couple of weeks to have around 10, so you may be waitin' a while! lol. As for the best response. hmmmmmm I'll have to take this one under advisement I think. Or maybe I'll wait for a sign?
Thanks for the comments and as darkjedi has shown with his enthusiasm, it's great to see ya back!
darkjedi, kill some extra stuff on my behalf will ya! I used to release tension myself with Goldeneye killing sprees a few years back..... lol.

BTW, James... I'm too ignorant to know how to do anything at facebook. So while I'm being poked and fondled.. and sent all those applications.. I just go into brain lock down and log off! hahaha! shhhhh! don't tell!

Well, I'd never been that bothered about joining but, just yesterday, a friend asked me to... so, under cover of darkness, I signed up in the wee small hours of this morning. So far, all I've contributed is in the 'what are you doing' box where I've put "... is wondering what the big deal is"... First person to poke/prod me could be in for a violent reaction
I can't get enthusiastic about reality TV; oatcakes; skinny little fries; the Royle family ; designer labels.....

Ooooooh, under cover of darkness, Wizzy! VERY clandestine I must say!
Well I can assure you that you won't be getting any pokes or prods from me, so you're just gonna have to save up those violent reactions for some other poor unsuspecting Facebooker! lol. Thanks for the response and don't knock the Royle Family! Ricky Tomlinson's great I reckon! ![](/Content/images/emotes/thumbup.gif)

For some reason or the other and may be it's the same lack of enthusiasm, i have always shyed away from facebook as much as i have known about it's existence for a long time. And to think of it i've never been too active in any other social networks either. I joined a couple but have never done much on the profile either. I guess the time factor has a lot to with it and i the entusiasm to be socially active in the virtual world.
I think the demand has gone up in your case James after the missing eyebrows and glasses.![](/Content/images/emotes/wink.gif)

First and foremost, I'm happy to report that my eyebrows have grown back already and can actually be seen again!
I've been a member of Facebookj for quite some time now and apart from a zealous burst of activity in the first week or two of joining, I very quickly lost interest to be honest. I see tremendous benefit of being a member in terms of finding long lost friends etc, but the rest of it is just not my cup of tea at all. All due respect to all my friends that enjoy themselves there, it's just not something I get a lot of pleasure out of myself! Hence the apology here for not interacting with them on Facebook.....
Mylot is by far the site I spend most of my "social" time and I'm quite happy to keep things this way for now. I find it to be far more interactive on a personal level here and many forays into alternative sites have just never given me the same sense of community or enthusiasm that this site has. Thanks for the response Alok. ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

It happens with me many times. Others so excited and eager and I fail to share the thrill. As far as networking sites are concerned I feel enthu about just a couple of them. So facebook,hi5, myspace etc. are long forgotten.

Hi5 and MySpace are not sites I've ever had any interest in either. My Facebook presence is more of a formality than anything else and I'm sure I'll always be resistant to it's supposed charms! lol. Each to their own right? Thanks for the response Daffodil. ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

u know what ? i feel the same like u, but i have a saviour that keep me there in facebook..its my friends. i have two persons there that i really love, and only there in facebook i can meet n talk with them. its my two bestfriends, one from Greece and one from Mexico City. they're not again in hi5, thats why i keep stay in facebook just to be with them. if they're out from it, i'll make sure that i will out too from facebook.
but actually, its not that bad..facebook is good too for a social networking, depends on ur motivation. if u dont have any motivation that can keep u there, then u wont find it interesting to join.

I agree that the presence of wonderful friends on Facebook does give it tremendous appeal on one level, but I would much prefer to interact with them all on a site such as mylot rather than there! I do see how the site can be engaging for many and I'm not suprised at all by it's popularity, especially when it comes to situations like your own where your closest friends are so far away! I just can't get into the whole approach myself is all. I just don't find it stimulating or personal enough I guess. Thanks for the response shalli. ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

Wll at first i hated facebook, i found it really confusing! I joined and just left it for a few months. All my friends were on it all the time at college and i really didnt get it. Then an old friend from school text me on my mobile and said to go on as they had added me. So i went on and loads of old friends i had lost contact with had added me. I thought this was great! I could see what they had all been doing, some were married, loads of them had children, it was wiered. Since then ive been hooked! I sometimes dont go on for a week or two but im uite good now keeping up to date nad messaging my old friends. Im meeting an old school friend next week, it would never have been possible without facebook!:)

Welcome to mylot kempnikki!
When I first joined, the novelty of it all wore off after just a week, so you did well to last a few months if you ask me! lol. I do agree that it's a great site to use to keep in touch with old friends, but the rest of the application stuff just drives me crazy! Thanks for the response and good luck meeting up with your old school friend! ![](/Content/images/emotes/wink.gif)

I do the Facebook, But I do have a Myspace account and a Yearbook account that others wouldn't leave me alone till I joined and now as you said they are happily troding along while I rarely go unless someone sends me something, I just can't get into the excitement they feel for the site like it is the best thing since sliced bread and the birth of Brad Pitt..And what's with all those applications and other things they send on there it is just crazy the stuff they do and send. I feel that Mylot is better at connecting and talking then any of the social networks...I know i have more fun with it then the other stuff.

"Do the Facebook"! Good God, don't tell me we're gonna have a new dance craze like the Bus-Stop! lol. I logged into Facebook 2 days ago after not going there dfor a week and there were 75 invitations in some form or another! 75!!!! I ended up with quite a work-out just deleting them all. I have no MySpace presence and never have. Yerabook is not one I'm familiar with either. ANyways, mylot suits me to the ground and it's definitely better because of it's true interactivity. C'mon James...you know me better than that to think that I would be offended that you didn't accept a few of my plants. It's your choice if you wish not to save the rainforests. I log on....check my plants (sometimes) and play a game or two of scrabble and log off. Chat with my cousin if he's around...and that's about it.

I just put on my Facebook profile that only those I know in real life can be my friends. In other words, my site is not for public viewing. I find by doing it that way, you will avoid getting so many unwanted invitations.

I'm pretty sure that my own profile is set so that only my friends can see it too, but I'll double check later I think! I appreciate the tip as it would be great to keep a presence on there but not have to get all flustered with the invitations and stuff.

Goodness me, I just logged in to Facebook this morning for my standard weekly clean-up and there were over 50 requests!
I'm pretty good at time management and multi-tasking as I also work a full time job in a senior management position, but I just don't get a kick out of the way Facebook handles things. Not even slightly! Mylot suits me to the ground because it allows me to be exoressive, truly interactive and fits in perfectly with my schedules. The only other site that I spend some time on is LinkedIn, but this is in a professional capacity. Oh and Singsnap because I have a lot of fun there! Facebook, MySpace, Friendster and all these other types of "social" sites are of no interest to me. Thanks for the comments mommymo. ![](/Content/images/emotes/wink.gif)

Oh yes, the CRAIC! Where on earth would I be in this world if it weren't for that!
And it's NEVER too late to work on time management mommymo.
For me anyways it's a matter of necessity. i always have mylot open in the background even when I'm working, but I've also usually got some 10 or more other sites open at the same time and I chop and change between all of them. Add Skype and MSN into the mix and it can get a tad hectic at times! But at least it makes the days go fast.....

actually, truth be told, i'm just like you......i joined after being prodded by several friends here.
Facebook is like the second biggest, multi-million dollar, social networking site on the internet, and I DON'T GET IT!!!
i just don't see the attraction, at least here we can have some decent discussions.
at Facebook what do we do??? poke each other and throw food products at each other.
pee on each others walls and if you're really in to it you can spend money to send somebody an image of a gift.
yeah.......give me myLot any day over Facebook.

And of course we wanna keep in touch with our friends, so off we go Facebooking! I'll take mylot anyday too, no question. At least here we have more control over what we say and do.

Facebook? What's facebook?
(just kidding)
I don't like being hugged by complete strangers!
And DON'T get me started on poking. Okay, I'm a pretty easy going person, but if you want to get me mad, poking would do it. I mean instant nasty. Poking is just not right, even with a close friend. But public poking? Pokes from strangers?
That wall thing. Do people realize that their personal conversation is NOT personal? It is on a giant party line!!
I'm really a little nervous to get too into it. I'm on facebook, but I hardly use it. I'd like to understand it better.

I hear ya on the poking sulynsi!
Poking, prodding, gifting, hugging, rainforesting, mafia warring and every other "ing" under the Sun goes on over there and I can't see the attraction to ANY of it! The site relies very heavily on viral activity which in turn creates massive numbers of page impressions. It has a bunch of very savvy creators, that's for sure! It's just not for me though and like you, I hardly use it either. All I do is log on once a week or so to delete application spam. Thanks for the response and here's a mylot poke for ya..... *POKE* ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

Tell me about it!
I've logged in after a week or so to find that I practically have a virtual jungle growing in my account! And then I feel bad becasue I haven't been virtually watering any of the plants or virtually feeding any of the fish etc. So I of course delete them all to be humane.
The fact that there are so many just goes to show how clever Facebook have been in promoting the viral effect on their site too.
