hi, boys and girls, here is a freshman at mylot. As a Chinaese guy, I like cooking very much, especially the traditional Chinaese food. Here in China, acturally there are diffierent categories of the chinaese food(mainly 8 categories), originating from different areas of China. Although there are more and more Chinaese restaurants abroad, it tastes just like a mixture instead of the original Chinaese food.

Welcome to mylot lucienruc. Chinese foods are very common in my country of multi racial races. The chinese foods found here are authentic and they are my favourites. I have taken up chinese cooking and often served them on my dinner table. They really have that kind of unique taste which is so inviting to the taste-bud.

definitely you are right. there are many overseas Chinese in Malaysia, and the chinese food must be very popular there. Which do you like best?

Definitely you are right: I like cooking a lot since my childhood. During the school time, usually I went home when my mom was cooking in the kitchen, I prefered standing beside mom and saw the cooking process. As time goes by, I achieved the target:
by the way, as in southern china, you must be fond of kinds of soup:

Acturally I haven't tasted the Indian made Chinaese food, but in China, the materials for cooking would be china made, some of which would only be obtained in China. different provinces or cities would have different flavorings, which makes a significant role in chinaese cooking!

Hi Lucienruc... I love chinese food. Here in India, we have some real good chinese restaurants which serve chinese food. As you say the chinese food prepared here may be a little different than the original due to the non availability of some chinese items that need to be added to them, however i think they may be close to the taste of the original ones.
I am extremely fond of dry Manchuria and also Noodles. However i could never learn to eat with the sticks though :). Thats really an art.

I'm a funny person: I was born in VietNam, raised by Americans, have a Norwegian mother, British habbits and I LOVE Chinese food too.
I know that in the Swechan reigion, their foods are spicy hot. I think the reason for that is for the climate temperatures. The hot makes them sweaty and thus cools them down for the hotter months and it warms them for the winter times.
You're right, Chinese food here in America is a mixture of everything. When the Summer Olympic games were played, I watched it more for the travelings of China than the actual events themselves.

Hello lucienruc and welcome to mylot!...
I love chinese food. But I beleive what they sell here in canada, is really glorified to suit our tastes and probably nothing like you have there at all!. There are some restaurants here that claim to have authentic chinese foods but I have never had it.
I beleive we have the basic ingredients but have added sauces and things to appeal to our tastes..It certainly works though!

Meh. I'm Chinese, so I have Chinese food everyday. I'm pretty sick of it. I prefer Western food.
However, I do like hot and sour soup. It's too bad I don't get to have it more often.

I don't know how authentic the chinese food I eat is, but I sure do love it! I'm a total fan. When I go on a date and the guy asks me what kind of food I want to eat, my response is always 'chinese!' Hehe. Last time I mentioned that I think chinese food is very romantice, I think the guy thought I had lost my marbles over that one! Haha. I do tend to like buffets over a menu. I guess because I like the appetizers more and at a buffet I can choose to only eat appeitzers! Haha.
This is a very good discussion! And welcome to mylot!
