My son will be 3 in May. We have been trying to potty train him for a while. He is interested in it, he will get up in the morning and go straight to the potty. But that's the only time. We had problems at daycare with his potty training as well. He seems to find it funny to use the bathroom on himself. He will stand there, watch himself wet his pants and it run down his leg, and bust out laughing and say "I peed" or he'll poop in his pants and grin and look at me and say "Mommy, I got poo poo" This has caused many rashes so far, and it's really frustrating. How can I convince him that he wants to do this in the potty, and not in his pants? Does anyone have any tips or little tricks they've used with their sons that might work? Someone please help me!! Amanda

My sister got her son a potty watch. it goes off every thirty minutes and when it goes off you go and use the potty, whether you need to or not. My sister is a kind woman with a lot of pacients. I am not. By three years old if your child is not potty trained then mom and dad need to remember who the adult is and set their foots down. I know that all of the parenting books will tell you to let them decide when they are ready but quite frankly I think they are full of it. Some people feel that it is wrong to spank their children, that is fine, if you do not want to do that then you can still punish him for acting like a baby instead of the big boy he really is. Please forgive me if this sounds harsh to you, it is just a pet peeve of mine. I really do wish you the best of luck and that potty watch really worked.
