Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for ten 2008 Academy Awards and won eight, the most for any film that year, including Best Picture and Best Director. It also won five Critics' Choice Awards, four Golden Globes, and seven BAFTA Awards, including Best Film. Despite the film's success, it is the subject of controversy concerning its portrayals of Indians and Hinduism as well as the welfare of its child actors.
How many of you have seen this movie & what are your views on the same. Is India only a land of slums to people around the globe...let us know..
My fellow Indians - what are your views of the film? Does it really potray an Indian Film Industry success in the oscars or are we reacting too much for a film which is basically a british film. Even congress is now linking the film's success as a success of the govt formed by them in taking Indian movie industry to the next level. I personally hope they dont come back to power after hearing this...
