The Boss has just uttered these words and I know that she's in the mood for comfort food. I shall shortly set out to try to meet her request. We all like a little comfort food. My favourite is quite simple. Boiled eggs and soldiers (thin slices of toast for dunking in the egg). What' your favourite comfort food, or comfort place where you go when life seems too much for now.

When life gets tough, I head for my computer. Just seems to be able to take my mind off my troubles. My favorite comfort food..can I say anything that doesn't bite me back? If i am upset seems anything that taste good will do since my mind is probably not registering the taste as my mind whirls anyhow.But if I had to choose it would be Tacos or spaghetti. If I don't get on the computer then my spot is my bedroom and my bed rolled up in 2 comforters and 4 pillows. Listening to the drip drip drip of the bathroom bathtub faucet as it calms me some.

It annoys my husband alot..we have a new one he just has to install it which he has had ample time since he didn't work often these last few months..so when he starts working he will say when I get time..He is a procrastinator..I love hearing any kind of water be it rain,ocean or running water..or drip.drip.drip of the bathtub. I guess it is just something I have gotten used to over the years.

I find dripping water keeps me awake Becky. I agree that the computer can help us along the way too. It does me anyway. Fresh spaghetti is yummy. With cheese and nothing else. Yummy.

|Mashed potatoes, definitely mashed potatoes- probably with a nice steak and mushroom casserole (we always try to keep some in the freezer when we make a batch) but it has to be mashed potatoes, Wish I had known - Niamh and Niall had chixken and mushroom pie and chips last night - could have made extra and sent it down to you guys! xxx

I have more of a comfort drink. Coffee! Or really just a warm drink... tea is fine, lemon water, etc. When I'm in need of comfort, I often don't want food. But something cheesy put before me I am almost never able to refuse.

Haha that's so cute! I like different kinds of food. Your runny egg sounds good although I have it as a treat more than comfort food. I like hamburgers, chocolate, and ice cream. i think chocolate and ice cream are my number one comfort food. I like sweets such as donuts and cupcakes in general but when I'm sad, then it has to be a big bar of chocolate or yummy ice cream. :)

Mmmmm, my favorite comfort food is a big pot of beef stew with lots of veggies and corn bread. Sometimes, the simplest things are the most comforting, aren't they?

*L* I had a Canadian friend tell me that only a Texan could make an entire meal of flour and water or milk. One of hubby's favorite things is biscuits and gravy.......flour and milk. Sweet cornbread is the best!

May i ask how you dunk toast in a boiled egg?? Unless you make your eggs different than me. There would be no dunking because the way I boil my eggs (as most Americans) is to put the whole eg into water (with the shell) and let it cook till the white and yolk are hard. I have heard of soft boiled eggs maybe thats what a soft boiled egg . Would the yolk still be runny or the whites?? I am not sure I would like my eggs that way. Anyways my comfort food is cakes , pies, biscuits. I am a carb nut.

My comfort place is under my pines behind the fence lying in a bed of pine needles with a book, a port and the birds and the bees....sadly this comfort is denied me in the winter, so I curl up with Spunky in her dog house........lol My comfort food is a pot of tea and shortbread cookies. I don't really have a sweet tooth so when I'm down or want to pamper myself, I have shortbread cookies. They always make me feel sooooooooo much better. Brings back memories of Christmas's at home when I was a kid. It was the only time my mum baked shortbread.........

My Comfort Food is Chicken Soup. My Comfort Place is to take a Ride on my horse. It just makes me think about the basics instead of all the turmoil.

You couldn't do the two together I think Annie! LOL. I love chicken soup too and whilst it's over 25 years since I have been on a horse, I use to enjoy riding too.

Hi p1key, You are making me hungry, for me it has to be the only great British dish "Fish and Chips" can you smell it? with lots of vinagar and little salt. I love code best with my chips or sometimes I like code roe in batter, I can't remember the last time I've treated myself to fish and chips. Tamara

Hi there p1kef1sh Aww bless her, you'll have to give her a big hug after she has finished her pie and chips though not too soon after! I would have to say that after having a lovely hot shower and I am in my lovely warm fluffy dressing, I like nothing more than to sit in front of the tv with some cheesecake preferably strawberry!

The problem with comfort food is that it helps to comfort me and at the same time pile up the pounds. LoL. My favorite comfort food would be junk foods , that includes potato chips, chocolate cake, coke zero, fastfoods. Comfort place would be the bedroom. I think most people would agree with me. And I have other sources of comfort too --- friends, sister, my little tyke...

Mike's recipe is reliable. 3 to 3.5 minutes in boiling water. Don't bring it to the boil with the egg in it. Only use free range eggs too. They look and taste much better. Yummy. I shall make you some next time. XXXX

If I were in the UK i'd have to concurr with your wife and hit the chicken and mushroom pie from the chippie. To make it just right you need to dollop a serving of sweet and sour sauce from the Chinese takeaway next door over the pie and chips though! In the absence of a local chippie, or indeed any sort of takeaway, my comfort foods tend to be things that will fill me up with stodge but are easy to knock up. Pasta is a prime example, or using up cold rice to make egg fried rice and veggies.
@p1kef1sh (45681)

Maybe you could open a chippy. Get the locals the authentic taste of GB and send them running back to their Piri Piri Chicken and lemon shrimps.

Hello, aren't you nice to make her pie and chips. Or else she has you well-trained, lol! My comfort food is similar to yours. I like fried eggs (slightly runny) on toast with tomato ketchup gluing the egg to the toast. I might have some now actually, I've had a bit of a tough day. Thanks for giving me the idea! My comfort place is in bed, either reading or having a nice sleep.

I went to the chip shop! I have made it in the past for her, but I didn't want to get handy with the pastry tonight. All the chilling and rolling takes too long. Fred eggs are yummy too, although I prefer mine poached on toast. Bed is also my favourite place. When I was younger I had a friend who lived in a mill cottage in Devon. She had a huge sill beside her lounge window that overlooked the mill race. It was a fantastic place to lie reading.

Hey, good thinking! I'd assumed you'd meant a frozen pie and chips, something you can just bung in the oven. (This is purely based on what I would do you understand, and no reflection on you, lol!) Impressive that you do make it yourself sometimes. Hmm, poached eggs are healthier than fried, and would probably taste just as nice. Your friend's mill cottage in Devon sounds amazing. It sounds like somewhere I'd love as well.

My comfort food would either be mashed potatos with gravy, bananas with peanut butter, or tacos. Tacos sound so good right about now. And I just found I'm having steak sandwiches for dinner. I have too many food cravings right about now. I think for lunch, I'm going to have a baked potato with cheese and bacon =).
@p1kef1sh (45681)

I've never got seriously into Tacos. They are quite popular here though. But everything else on your list is definitely comfort food for me. Steak sandwiches are seriously yummy.

I don't think I'm going to have steak sandwiches for dinner now. Which is quite fine with me, since I'm full from the baked potato that I had for lunch.
