Tea - sweetened or unsweetened?

When I drink brewed ice tea I prefer it unsweetened. There's something about dumping sugar in a drink that bothers me. If it's bitter I can add something like spenda but that's rare. I do like flavored tea, like lemon, peach, raspberry etc and often that is sweetened but it's sweetened ALREADY so it's not like it tastes grainy from putting sugar in it.
How do you drink yours?

I was just talking about this with some friends from church. I have to have Sweet Tea and it has to have Sweet N Low in it. My DH prefers Sugar but he will put SNL so we save the sugar for the koolaide for the kids.

I love to have sugar added to my tea but I mostly add the sugar when the tea is brewing so that it's not grainy...

i like sweetened with real sugar.. any artificial or substitute i will get sick off of (kidney infections or hallucinations) im not much on flavored tea but i havent tried many.. i do agree that i woudlnt want to drink tea with that grainy sugar in it.. so i guess if its already cold i will just pass because the sugar either doesnt seem to dissolve or takes forever to where i end up getting it in my mouth like sludge

Mmmmm. I will have to get some tea soon. Answering all these responses is making me thirsty lol. Lemon is probably my favorite but you can squeeze lemon into anything. Sometimes I get creative and squeeze fresh lemon or lime into other flavored tea, like raspberry or peach.

I don't remember exactly when I did this, but must be years now....I don't use any kind of sweetener for both coffee or tea. I don't care for regular type tea except maybe green tea, but usually mint and I love the Celestial Seasonings kind, like Raspberry Zinger ...I do add lemon and yes a tad of honey to my mint tea (so yeah, guess sweetened)....but haven't used sugar in years.

I like my tea sweet. Tea without sugar is colored water. If you're going to drink colored water, just save yourself the money, and drink water. And its not grainy if you mix it up. The sugar will dissolve. If you have some kind of flavoring in there maybe you won't need sugar for that. Would depend on the flavor content.

well, when i was a little bit young, i wanted always to add more sugar then my mom already aded. But, as i growed up, my mom told me so many times that the tea it`s healthier without any sugr, or if i really want my tea sweetened, i would rather add some honey in my tea. My mom makes a so good tea... she add lemon, honey and the tea it`s amaisingly so good. But now, i`m drinking it without to sweetened . I like it just like that. First it wasn`t good at all, but sshortly i liked...

I think that maybe we have a desire for sweet things and it's stronger when we are younger. I LOVED sweets when I was younger. I still like sweets but I am more gourmet about my choices now. As a kid I would happily have eaten any kind of chocolate, any kind of candy, cool whip, kool aid.... now I prefer dark chocolate, especially with orange, sweet and sour type things, and I definitely do not like kool aid!
Once I made a pitcher of kool aid and then I caught my son later pouring a FOURTH CUP of sugar into a glass BEFORE pouring in the kool aid! I was so disgusted that I took the sugar out of the pantry and hid it in my room! I don't know what he was thinking, I almost had a sugar coma just watching it! I have large drinking glasses, I think they hold like 21 oz but still! The kool aid was already sweetened!

I always drink my tea unsweetend. I have some rooibos teas that taste a bit like cherries, but doesn't actually have cherry in it. Sometimes I will a a touch of stevia to it to add some sweetness and bring out the cherry taste. Though, most of the time I don't. I drink lots of herbal teas and even the bitter ones I drink unsweetened.

My family was raised on sweet tea but I started drinking it unsweet at about 14. I love it that way now and drink at least one glass a day. in the summer I make a pitcher of tea and one of water to put in the fridge and have a glass of one then the other all day long. It is so refreshing.

When I am really thirsty, usually I just prefer ice water, but if I am beyond thirst sometimes I like diet coke, maybe it means my body needs the sodium lol. I do drink a lot of tea, I always have a bottle somewhere in my pantry or fridge, besides water, diet coke, and coffee, it's my most-drunk beverage.

Sweetened, always. Except for green tea for some reason. I do not like flavored teas that much, either already flavored or from me adding a dash of lemon or something like that.
I prefer to sweeten my tea with honey, but I don't have a problem with adding sugar if honey is not available. My tea is usually warm enough to dissolve the sugar so there is no grainy feel to it.

I think I am weird. It's not that I don't like SWEET, I do, but I don't like the texture of mixing sugar into a cold drink. I also won't put sugar on cereal, although I do eat things like frosted flakes or frosted cheerios. It doesn't dissolve right and then it tastes gritty or... syrupy. Even the thought is grossing me out lol.
I can put sugar in hot drinks but I usually don't, sometimes a pinch of something like splenda - which dissolves well because it's more powdery than grainy.

I can't imagine drinking regular tea without sugar. I am not much of a tea or coffee drinker but whenever I do, I have to have some sugar in it. I don't like it to be cloying but I just can't get myself to drink bitter tea. I also prefer to have lots of milk added to it.
Have a nice day!
