Well I fear the worst now for my Missing Cat Minx, its been three weeks to the day here that she has been gone; I started this other post when she had been gone three days; http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1905100.aspx I just feel like she is dead now, there is no other answer to her disappearing the strange way she did; She had been here with me in my place in town since November when she got sick, and during a brief warm spell I took her home to the farm to be with her beloved dogs, she missed them dearly and had been howling around for days so I thought I'd cheer her up and take her to the farm, I had no idea it would be the last time I'd see her; I am grateful to have had more one on one time with her, and that her daughter my cat Screamer had , had a chance to be with her momma again, but damn it all, I just don't know what the hell has become of my cat other than she is gone, aka dead; she is an older cat her age is somewhere between 10-12 yrs old; It breaks my heart to have lost her, but the "not knowing for sure" is what is killing me you know? I hate that! But I honestly do think she is dead; I hate losing my pets, its like a big old knife in my heart, I miss my pets way more than most family members do you feel the same way about yours?? Some day if I ever make it to heaven I"m going to be stampeded by an onslaught of a ton of beloved pets, my ( human family) won't have a chance to greet me, it will be just my babies ( my dear dear pets); Minx honey I'll see you again someday!! Rest in Peace dear Momma Cat, Rest in Peace!! Love you!!!

I lost a cat that way, and it is devestating. We didn't move or anything... we'd always lived in the same place, and continued to live there a couple years after the cat went missing. He went outdoors sometimes, and one time just never came back. We kept looking for him everywhere, searched the side of the road for his body, never found him. To this day I still don't know what's happened to him. It is very sad, the not knowing. If I'd found out he'd been hit by a car and killed, my mind would have been at ease. I'd still be very sad and sorry, and regret letting him out, but I needed to know. I'm sorry about your cat, and I know what you mean about missing the cat so much. I've always said my cats are just as precious to me as my kids. I hope she is at peace now.

Hi Dear {{Kats}}, thank you I too am sorry about your missing cat; The friend of mine who gave me Minx all those years ago has more calico kittens just born and she's been trying to get me to come look at them, to take another one, but I just don't know; I can hardly feed and take care of the ones I have now I'm down to two dogs and two cats, I just don't know if I am ready yet to invite another one into my home; I'd love to take all of them but that's not possible either; Animals are such a big part of my life and always have been, I hate being split up too having to have most of my pets out at the farm; such is my life though for now; yeah my furbabies are very very very precious to me;

OH {{Kats}}, that's awful to have lost one in October, and January...UGH!! My heart would just be shattered; When I lose a pet there usually is another one that will die or get killed or something soon, I have an older dog but right now he appears healthy but so did Minx so I don't know its a guessing game as to who will be next; I will I'm sure find another kitten or cat to love as I do love all animals and its hard for me to refuse one; If I had money and land again I'd have quite a herd of them LOL!

The 2 that I had pass away were actually my mom's cats. I adopted them when she passed away 2 years ago. It was still sad when the cats passed, but I wasn't quite as attatched as I would be had they been my own since they were babies.

Oh, Jan, I know exactly what you're going through, sweetheart, and my heart really goes out to you! Losing a pet is so very hard especially cats because they are so small and susceptible to attacks. I pray that Minx hasn't gone to her last reward and that eventually will come back home to you! Please keep us all updated, honey. Take care, sweetie and take heart. Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

hi Kellyjeanne: Thanks for stopping by, and for your concern; Yes I know Cats are very susceptible to "attacks" out in the country and that dreaded busy blacktop my Dad lives on; She was quite a "fighter" in her day but being an older cat I just don't know really? But in my heart I feel she is gone now, I just wish I had a body to bury you know? that's the part I hate the most, that miserable "not knowing for sure" what has happened to her; Give Mija a big hug for me ok? Love & hugs

The good news is that your baby is in Heaven with all the other animals up there. I know that having a body to bury would bring closure for you. My heart really goes out to you. Mija is sending purrs and licks your way as well for encouragement too. Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

I am so sorry, I have loved and lost many critters in my life. It breaks your heart, they give you so much unconditional love. I have a dog and 4 cats right now, your never alone as long as you have animals with you.

I get most of my fur babies from strays, I can't see an animal going ungry neither. My pets usually find and adopt me, I don't find them.

Hi Polly; Yes I've had many pets that found me, adopted me when I was a kid living on the farm, plenty more here too where I live now but I just can't feed all of these abandoned cats, it just irritates me so much that these stupid people here get animals and then dump them out when they move away; its so sad and so cruel; {{hugs to you}}

HI Polly: Sorry its taken me so long to get back to you, its been a busy couple of days for me, and yesterday before I had to leave to take my Dad to the Hospital for more tests, after answering a few posts on here I just got all teary-eyed and couldn't post anymore about my Minx being gone now, you know? and once I got back from the hospital my body was just wiped out, too tired!! Sounds like you've got quite a large group yourself there (G)!! WE do love our animals don't we? There are some stray abanadoned cats here where I live that I feed also and now have another stray that's found its way to our Farm its a male cat, very WILD....he's getting closer to me touching him but we are still light years from that happening and he just hides and lurks around there, of course my other cat Scodie wants nothing to do with him, thankfully she too is fixed; But I always leave food for the strays, I hate to see an animal go hungry you know?

I am sorry for your loss. I've been told that when an animal is very sick, sometimes they will go off by themselves to die. This is not from experience, just what I 've been told. It is good that you still have an offspring of your beloved cat.

HI bellis: Yes I think that is possibly what has happened to her, even though to me she was so much better after her pneumonia attack from November, maybe it or something else took over her body and I do think she did just go off to die somewhere on the farm, I've just not found her body yet, she may be on someone else's property and I may never find out for sure; thanks again for stopping by I do appreciate it!

I don't know where you live but our outside cats have to be very careful around here. We lock them up at night, but during the day there are all kinds of critters who consider cats breakfast. We are lucky we only lost one that way but the feral cats come and go pretty fast around here.

I have not had good luck moving cats, they get very upset, even when the new conditions are very close to the old ones. Good Luck to you

Hi Savypat: unfortunately I live in town now, two years ago I had to sell my home, my mobile home as I did not own the land it sat on, anyway so I took my one cat with me to live in town, and my other two cats and two dogs were placed out in the country at my Father's Farm as I was not going to give up my babies, not by any means; Minx settled in right away she was happy so long as her buddies ( my dogs) were there and I of course was at the farm each and every day so she adapted pretty good, my other calico cat Scodie well she didn't adapt well to the change but that's another story, right now she is at the farm and doing ok, she too loves the dogs and is and always has been a cat that keeps to herself more or less (G)!

I am sorry for your loss. My cats always disappeared when they got sick. I'd search and sometimes find them. When they knew they were gonna die, they'd go somewhere to be alone. I hated it when it happened. I still miss those long gone friends. They were my heart.

HI snowcat: Thank you for your concern; That's just the thing, I know dogs and cats and well any animal if sick and knows its going to die they do go off to find a special place, its hard though isn't it? I miss all of my pets from years gone by, but I know in my heart I will see each of them again someday soon; Knowing that makes me smile! thanks again for stopping by I do appreciate it!

Oh jan, I don't know what to say. I hadn't realized so much time had passed. I'm still hoping by some miracle that Minx is still alive somewhere and will come back to you. I too, will be stampeded by my babies when it's my time to leave this plane of existence

I am so sorry to hear you never did find the cat or that she never found you. It is hard when you don't know what has happened to them. With my daughter's cat, who I inherited when she moved away, come up missing before but would always come back a couple of days later. Not sure where she would go and it was not because she was on the prowl for a tom because she was spayed when she was old enough to have it done. One day she did not come back and all the neighborhood was on the look out for her and was not seen. She also was older, maybe around 12 when she come up missing. I really doubt if anyone tried to take her as she was not anything special, just an old country cat. We do think she was not feeling well and that she must have gone off to die.

Have you called the local office that deals with lost animals in your area and checked the shelters. It could be that some well meaning person took the cat in or brought it to the authorities. Also they will put it on record that your cat is missing and if anyone brings one in matching your cats description they will call you. I know it does not provide much hope but it is worth a try. I truly hope you find your cat alive and well.

HI {{LadyM}}, thanks for stopping by, yeah I checked in with the local animal shelter right away and hospitals but no cat described like my Minx; They all have my contact information; I just feel since its now been three weeks that she is in fact "gone", and I really do hate it; That's the way life is though, she will always be very special to me;

Ahhhh I'm sorry Jan. That has to be so hard not knowing what happened to her. I know a couple of years ago my favorite cat, an older one, escaped outside. I looked for her for hours frantic. Luckily she did come back home. Like you I'm going to be met with a huge number of pets that have passed on when I go. But thats ok. It will be good to see them again.

I can picture it in my mind now!!!

Oh Jan! You made me cry too! I feel the very same way about my babies! I don't care anywhere near the same for my human family as I do for my pets that I have lost! I know how much it hurts! I lost 2 of my cats last 5 years ago right before I got the 2 I have now and my heart still breaks when I think about them! I still miss them so much! I'm so sorry about Minx! I hope that she is safe and happy wherever she is! I can't type anymore because I'm crying. I'm sorry.

HI {{Opal darlin}}, AAWww I'm sorry I made you cry too!! It just hurts so bad doesn't it when we lose our furbabies!! I always get teary-eyed whenever I think about any of my deceased pets; My Father could never understand it nor my Mother until she too had gotten attached to some cats when she was older someday I'll tell you a story about her last cat but not today, I have to take my Dad to the hospital this after noon for more tests and don't want to be all puffy-faced, I am allergic to my own tears and when I cry I get a rash on my cheeks how stupid is that? did you ever hear of such a silly thing? only me I guess..LOL! life sucks!

HI {{Morningstar}}, how are you dear lady?? Wow you've had some that lived to be 18?? That's amazing! If I was still living in my old place out in the country where all of my pets and I were together, I feel she'd still be with me and maybe have lived for several more years but who know? I can't change the past, I wish I'd be changing a lot of things if you know what I mean (G)! Bless you for stopping by, I do appreciate it!!! Love & hugs
