How do I get rid of them without having to have to use pesticides? Do you know of any natural remedies or traps that I can make for them to stop eating my garden?

Use diatomaceous earth around the plants. It's inexpensive and natural. It causes dehydration on soft bodied bugs and things. You should be able to find it in a garden center.

Throw some salt in area of your garden they are clinging to, they stay away from it.

I was worried that the salt may ruin the plants though... would it?

Just put the salt around the plant, like make a line and dare them to cross. Have you ever heard how you can draw a white line and a Ant won't cross it? Anyways, give it a try, just draw that white line with the salt.
