Well my mama has 6 (yeah, I know) and she said that the one that hurt the least was the one on her boob. She said the one on her shoulder and the one on her outer though stung a little but did not hurt all that much. But you know that I dont have one so I could not really tell you. I want one so bad but I teared up with my nose ring, so yeah im freaking out about getting one!I just want a little something on my lower belt line but im sure its going to be awhile before I get the guts to do it.. ha!

Stay away from bone. Fattier areas hurt less. I've gotten 3, one on my shoulder blade, one on my ankle, and one on my upper arm. The upper arm was the last tattoo, and the one I hardly felt. The one on my shoulder blade is only partially on the bone. I could tell when he was going near the bone because I was starting to become numb to the pain, but suddently I'd feel it again! So for your first I'd suggest someplace with a lot of fat or muscle.

i got my first one on my shoulder. it did not hurt at all. but a lot of people say that it hurts a lot to get it on your shoulder. i think that it all depends on the person. i think that the shoulder did not hurt, but others don't feel the same way.

Your ankle is one of the most painful places you can get a tattoo because the skin is so thin and it is right on the bone. My favorite tattoo of mine is the one on the back of my neck. It took no time at all and it felt more like a massage than a painful experience.

I have a large tattoo on my lower back that wraps around to the sides. When he was tattooing over my spine it was VERY weird (my whole back was vibrating) and when he got to my sides is almost tickled... It was slightly painful, but it wasn't really that bad. (I think this was the only time I've ever been thankful for having a little extra chub!)
My first tattoo was my armband. When he was tattooing the "top" of my arm I laughed and said "Really? Is that IT?" It didn't hurt at all... it felt like someone was scratching my skin with a safety pin. BUT when he got to the underside of my arm... O M G! Now THAT hurt!!
I haven't had any tattoos on my legs, ankles or feet... but I know that I have tripped and knocked my ankle on things and that REALLY hurt... I think that the ankle would be a bad choice (pain wise)
In regards to deciding what to have tattooed... You should do what I did. When I drew up my tattoos I hung the pictures on my fridge and looked at them every day for at least six months. When I wasn't sick of looking at them by the end of the "trial period" I figured I wouldn't be sick of them when they were permanent freckles!
Good luck!!! :)
P.S. Most pain killers are blood thinners... double check that before you take a "pre-tattoo" pain killer! You don't want to bleed a lot during the process!
