Hi Guy's,
I am from Melbourne in Victoria and I was just wondering how many other MyLot's were from Australia as well? The Land Down Under, lovers of shrimp on the Barbie (must say I am more fan of scallops myself )
But hey you don't have to be from Australia if you want to reply and let us know what part of the world you are from too

Hi, Msmell, I'm an Aussie from NSW - and I've never been a fan of barbeques! There's just something about eating food out in the sun with the flies buzzing around which has never really appealed. I'm a big fan of scallops, though - we went to Tasmania a few years ago and had scallop pies ... YUUUMMMMMMM!

Scallop pie can't say that I have ever had one, but I do love Tasmania planning a trip there hopefully this year or next and will have to visit your cousin while Im there Hiccup and try this pie.
I don't mind a lamb chop off the barbie covered in mint sauce but I think a lamb spit is alot nicer.

Can't allow you all the bragging rights, my friend, HICCUP! Within 3/4 mile from my front door...we harvest for the Pit....and we have a huge choice, oysters, clams, scallops, mussels, dungeness crab, red rock crab, a line off the dock will catch you a spring salmon, rock cod, and a few minutes offshore, a nice big Ling cod! And that's a seafood feast! Cheers!

Not sure where the scallops came from, Hiccup ... but it was a lovely little bakery, I think somewhere near Richmond. I'll never forget the flaky, soft pastry and the delicious filling with the juicy, succulent scallops ... BLISS! Tasmania is a beautiful place - I'd love to go back there!

I am from the great southern land. I have been to melbourne and to brisbane. I love V8 supercars. Love the race around Mount Panarama. I have also driven around there myself.
But the highlight of my life was when the olympics came to my home town which is sydney. I didn't see the olympics but I went to see the parralympic. Not once but twice because the silly people forgot to mark the ticket on the first day that I went. It was a school excursion and I went with them. Then decide to take my son again on another day and saw some other events that we didn't see on the first day. It was fantastic.

Oh yeah is that the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and that is a stroke of luck coz those tickets dont come cheap and are hard to get too. Don't know much about V8 cars only that we used have a 1971 HQ supercharged Monaro which we only just sold about 6 mths ago now .... Now that was a nice car but the poor thing was being neglect and just sat in the garage collecting dust and costing us a fortune in rego and insurance and to drive it anywhere you need a petrol station to go with you

1971. That is certainly a good year because that is the year I was born. Smack bang in the middle. HQ is a good solid car. Shame that you had to get rid of it. Certainly is a classic by now.

Hi Msmell, I am not from Australia but from the UK but would love to visit as my ex husband lived in Perth WA for many years and one of my best friends lived in Tasmania as a child and my eldest daughter spent her gap year travelling in Australia and Fiji so I have many wonderful stories about the beautiful country. I am sure there are so many on the Lot from Australia and I hope you manage to link up with many of them. Huggles. Ellie :D

Ummmmm let me think Las Vegas does ring a bell think I have heard that somewhere before..... Oh I know now CSI wasn't that filmed in Las Vegas, Its just not going to be the same without Griffith in it. And ohhhhhhh i remember something about my cousin getting married there a few years ago, they went to Las Vegas for a stop over while in America and decided on the stop to get married which I thought was so romantic but lets just say that my cousins sister wasnt to happy about the whole thing at all and made her go out and pay a wedding dress and have photo's taken coz she couldnt handle that she wasnt part of the wedding! How silly it that, I would have just told her bad luck and deal with it!

I'm from sunny Queensland, (Gold Coast) until 4 months ago when we moved up to Maryborough (about 3 hours north of Brisbane) for our retirement. It's a lot quieter up here, more peaceful, and a pleasure to drive around; I hated driving on the Gold Coast - everywhere is so busy!
The only thing I miss since we moved north are the beautiful beaches.
I love BBQ's and we have them often - garlic prawns - yuuuuuum!
I hope your part of the country gets some badly needed rain to start the re-growth of vegetation, and make it as beautiful again.
It will be interesting to see how many Aussies respond to your discussion!

I know Victoria Point well because I did some fruit picking up there when I was in my teens, and I loved the area - a nice leafy suburb.
Yup - we do seem to have extremes in weather in Oz - it's either a feast or a famine! But we love it nontheless, huh? I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world.

I was just on the Gold Coast 3 months ago and didnt want to come home I just love Qld and it was so green up there, I have a sister who lives in Victoria Point and I love drive through those suburbs to go to her house all that gorgeous vegetation, it has a really rainforst feel to it through there and as you said we are in need of rain badly down here but not like the rain you guy's have had up there the weather goes from one exstream to another doesn't it! Victoria has been burned out and Qld has been flood out .....

I am pleased to meet you. It's nice to find someone who spells things the same way as I do!
My husband is from Victoria and we visit there regularly.
Don't mind shrimps!

G'day mate!
I'm from Brisbane, so not too far away. Y'know what I find really odd about that saying? The whole shrimp on the barbie one? Have you ever heard anyone over here ever refer to prawns as shrimp? I totally never have lol.
