Any fellow frugalists married to an opposite? I am an expert in efficiency and frugal living and i swear my hubby fights it tooth and nail. He so prefers to get what he wants when he wants... he's not really selfish by nature, but he just can't live cheap. when he's cold... he turns the heat up. when he's travelling he buys restaurant food when he's hungry... etc etc etc...

OH YES!!! I do the shopping and he's constantly wanting to add things to the list. I just look at him and say "It's not on sale and I don't have a coupon so I'm not getting it". When he shops he never looks at the price of things. He just buys the name brand. I guess it's just a good thing that we aren't both like that or we would be broke more than we are now.

It is nice to know I'm not alone. It's such a battle here some days. We put in a woodstove which has just about saved our marriage. I am truly more comfortable at about 65 degrees and sleep best around 60-62, but at 68 degrees now, at least I can sleep without dreaming about the money burning in the furnace! We have lots of down trees on our property due to several storms the last two years and can probably heat the house for nearly free (still takes electricity to run the house fan) for a couple of decades!!
My hubby has more shoes than I do and goes through clothes like crazy (He kind of forgets to change clothes before going out to check on the animals sometimes) Just like a little boy that way. He is sooo tough on clothes.
I love the man, truly I do, but he seems so inconsistent on things sometimes it just makes me shake my head!

Another issue is air conditioning in the summer. We just had air conditioning installed last summer. I'm happy with opening the windows and letting the fresh air in. I think the heat bothers my husband more because he works inan air conditioned office during the day and is used to it so when he comes home to the heat he notices it more than me. It is nice to hav ethe air ont he VERY hot nights, but I don't like using it all the time. I find myself turning it on about a half hour before my husband comes home from work. I turn it on and then I spend the evening out in the yard enjoying the warm summer evening.
