How can you live writing online as an International member?

India
March 1, 2009 12:48am CST
Most people who live writing are mainly members from the United States, now even the one paying for international members upfront have stopped ( I am just mentioning the Helium). It is unsure now as they are planning some optimization stuff. I was earning less on associated content and triond as they just pay for page views for international members. It is now a hard time for many international members who are well qualified writing online.

http://www.helium.com/smf/index.php?topic=42866.0;prev_next=next#new Visit this link and see the discussion started there. I am expecting a quick reply from the helium help board. I just hope my upfront payment is update tonight. I have just now logged in to Helium and working there. Though I am not sure I will be able to login in the evening or at night. Its around this time everyday I am being able to log in since the problem have started. Try freelancing if you can write quality articles. I have not yet tried freelancing as I need to develop my reputation first.Have a nice day and all the best for your future earnings.

I make my entire living from writing and I don't live in the United States. I'm in Australia. There are plenty of writing markets available for international writers. Avoid revenue sharing sites and find some proper writing markets. Leave the people in the US to their low-paying markets and come out and play in the higher international writing arena ;)

Thanks for the compliment about my site. My only goal with my blog is to help international writers to earn more money from writing. For those who find the right combination of content sites and private clients, the income from writing is easily higher than a full time day job. But you'll never get there using revenue-share sites....

Try "Review Stream". You can write reviews on a variety of topics and get paid, which ever country around the world you are at. I have been writing online on this website for the last six months or so, and I am very happy with it.

That is bad thing but we cannot blame them as they need to serve their countrymen first. I am a member of Helium but never did write any article there. I have my own blog that I monetize. That is really sad to hear because there are people form outside of US that are very good in writing. I hope that in time they will welcome again writers from outside of US.

I have read the helium discussion boards after you posting this reply. It scared me to say the least as I spend hours on helium each and every day. I just love the site with its upfront payments. I am sure they can sustain it. But perhaps for those in Asia time will tell. I am not sure why they would want a helium india, and a specific helium for all other nations, surely it is better to keep it as one. I will be visiting the helium forums as much as possible to learn more about this issue. I am for the UK so I hope I am safe enough. Although I too experienced some problems logging in as late.

Have a look at getafreelancer.com - there's often work there. It pays less than a lot of places (often $1 or $2 per article), but there's a TON of jobs. I'm just about to post a link to one in the Blogging discussions where they specifically want an Urdu writer - obviously international members are welcome on GAF.

I never read about helium stopping upfront payments for international residents. Actually the site is closed for residents in India and Philipines. I do not know about any recent changes in upfront payments. I think you can try freelancing for print media to earn more. For that you need to built a good reputation before staring the work. Try out magazines in your locality with good articles.

I hear what you are saying, I'm also outside the US. I am going to give you a few websites you might want to keep an eye on, as they regularly post new writing jobs. Absolute Write is a forum with a permanent thread for writers wanted (both paying and un-paying, although you are probably not interested in the latter.) Freelancewriting carries jobs from various boards such as Craiglist, Elance, etc. Writersweekly sends out a well-informed newsletter on a weekly basis. You can subscribe on their website.
