Is Obama leading America down the road of Socialism?

Based on the amount of money that has been dedicated to the economy bailout packages and the large stake the US government now has on some of America's largest banks, is then indicative of a path to overall Socialism? Can Americans expect to see the rise of the "welfare state"?
