I introduced my child at the age of 5 and 1/2 years of age.Initially he loved it and faired very well at it. But now he shows somewhat lack of interest and finds it difficult. Smetimes I feel as if Abcus has become a undue pressure on him and think of discontinuing.
Before discontinuing I would like to know from you whose children are/were doing Abacus whether disinterestedness is a common problem faced by most of the students. I would like to know from you whether you have noticed any significant benefit out of Abacus training?

hehehe... not a question for me.. I am a bachelor and hence don't have children(okay this one was a joke..so u people can laugh)... i m an academician by profession and also an educational consultant... a relative of mine got their daughter inducted into ABACUS when she was in third standard... indeed things had been fun... their r times u feel stressed... u feel too much pre occupied with so many stuff n jobs to do.. with so much additional burden because of the school activities and assignments that u gotta complete... but mind it ABACUS does pay... atleast that cousin of mine was very much able to survive it and got a lot positive results pertaining to her aptitude and calculative accuracy and speed!!!
I suggest give your child space and time.... at times we worry for our child more than he does... let him continue with him and let him decide if he is actually able to continue or is he really that burdened to stop the same...
Things should work out.

Yes!I got my daughter admitted to Abacus class when she was doing her third standard.Initially it seemed more fun for her but as days passed by,the pressure as you told was increasing and my little kid can't tolerate that. The class teacher insisted to do the sums as quick as possible and the correctness of answer is secondary. It looked absurd for me and I stopped my daughter continuing the classes.Practically I don't see any improvement in her skills too.
