well if you are looking at vb or c++ you need to look at vb.net and c# as those i believe are the updated languages
vb.net will be easier to learn than c#
tho all depends what you want to do with the languages or as a career as you can also go down networking and do a mcse,
or look at web based languages like html, java etc etc

It all depends upon what you intend to use them for. If your plan is to use it for professional development and want to be marketable I would think C++ is better.
Having said that you must know that C++ is not an easy language to begin learning with. You can do more with C++ than VB but VB.Net is much easier to learn and get familiar with how to program. Don't make the mistake that you can learn one language and that is all you need do.
I made my life career programming mainframe computers and learned 7 languages altogether from COBOL to Assembler. At one time or another I used them all.
You are however much better off starting off with something easy to learn and then expand on it from there.

hi friend
if you are fresher to any programming language so i suggest you to go for c or c++.
and if you are familiar with the c or c++ so go for VB it will help you in learning C# and currently running language.
now all programming language are related to object oriented.
so i suggest to go for object oriented for future.
thankyou happy mylotting

i recommend java its similar to c# but more advanced technology and also you can get lots of jobs and nowadays many program's are written in java because its easy to use and programs use less disk space and possessor. also it can use for microchip programing so i say you better learn java.

Even though it is easier to learn VB, VC++ is more important. It seems that you are still new in computers so I may be right in assuming you have little knowledge in programming languages.
C++ is more widely used. Several other programming languages were based on or derived from C++. Therefore learning C++ may make an easier migration to learning or understanding other programming languages like Java and Linux.
all the best,
rosdimy

Well every topic is very important as far as learning is concerned.
You should start to learn c++ first because it is the basic and object oriented language.
It helps in improving your programming concepts.
Then you can start learning VB because it is event-driven language.
You will get better interface in VB.
When you will learn VB then you can switch to VB.NET
Have a nice life ahead.
