Rabies and Distemper

We just got out fuzzie not to long ago and had to put off her shots because she had a cold. She is due to go back to the vet in a couple days for her distemper and rabies shots. The vet plans to give them both the same day but I keep reading in numerous places you should never give them at the same time. I keeping finding recommendations that you should give one and then wait 2 weeks to give the other so that if there is a reaction you will know what caused it. Did your fuzzies get their shots at the same time or were they spaced out a few weeks? (Our fuzzie is currently 16 weeks and behind on her shots because the pet store here does not take care of any of that. She was bought at 12 weeks and was sick when we got her which delayed the process of catching them up) Also, many sites have mentioned waiting 45 minutes to an hour at the vets office after a shot is given because of a high risk of a reaction. Did anyone wait around after shots or did you just take them straight home? One more question, do they run a temp after given shots? If so, how do a treat that?
