I noticed that my officemates are fond of reading hyped up books like Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings wherein fact they can watch it in the movie. I, myself is guilty from doing this. Although I'm not into these hip books or fantasy stories. The only book that I read that's also on film was "High Fidelity" by Nick Hornby. Nowadays, I can see my peers raving with "Angels and Demons". They're all reading it before the film is released. Then they watch it. What about you? What's the recent book that you've read?

I am in the process of finishing up a really good book that I read 10 years ago, and am now reading again. It's called Mrs. Man, and was written by Una Stannard, in the 1970s. It's all about the history of the married name, and of the traditions and how they originated. Just as I thought, the practice of woman taking the man's name at marriage reflects that she was once his property. I am very glad that I did not change my name when I got married.

Cool. That sounds sterling. Most books or stories from the past are more symbolic than the current ones. Thanks for sharing Danish.

I finished reading an old book entitled "Innocence".. I forgot the author's name. I finished reading Harry Potter books and I still watch them in the theatre. I've also read "Angels and Demons" a few years ago.
Anyway, "Innocence" is quite a gothic tale about a girl in high school who found trouble when her dad started dating the school nurse. Yikes.

hello there,....even i don't like books being hyped up because of the movies...i fact have read some books much before they were made into movies, and some, i didn't read even after they became popular (like harry potter)......for me, its my interest that decides, not the popularity of the book.
right now, i am reading a book called Eragon......there is also a movie based on it......i haven't seen it......may be I'll watch after after completing the book.
and, yes, i have already read all of Dan Brown's books.
have a nice day

I just finished reading Ruth Ozeki's al over creation. It was recommed to me by a friend who fell in love with it instantly. Though it was well written extremly profound book i cant say it appealed to me as much as it did to my friend how practically worships it. I do however recommend it to anyone in for a good read and in search of an objective view of contemporary society.

I'm in the process of finishing Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Having seen the movie I already know the fate of one of the characters and it is making the end excruciating. I want to finish it so I can get on to the next one but I am dreading finishing it because I don't want what is going to happen to happen! Because it's going to make me sad and I don't like when my books make me sad
I usually see the movie first then use that to decide if I would enjoy the book. Like, for example, I loved the movie Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist but I can't see myself enjoying it as a book. Part of what I love about the movie is the music and, while books are wonderful and marvelous things, they do not come with soundtracks.
On the other hand, I hadn't read any of the HP books until last September when I started on the series, but I have loved the movies so I decided I had ignored the hype long enough and I bought the first five in one purchase (Thank Heaven for KMart and Walmart and their cheaply priced books! I got all five for about $30. Six was a little more and seven is getting on my nerves because I don't like hard covers).
