Is it alright to send your friends the same gifts?

I have always been wondering about what to send to my friends. There are many of my frieds' birthdays that come at close dates. I have even no time to consider what his or her hobbies are or what objects do they like. So I decided to give them only one kind of but many gifts. But i really cannot imagine what they will think of me once they know my same gifts for all of them. Uh:( It's such an embarrassing feeling. What do you think of this situation? Is it good to do so? So what is your advice?
