Do not you think that we live our life mechanically? We get up everyday, do our regular chores, take bath and get ready for our work and reach at our work place. Make ourselves busy in the office work, take lunch in the lunch time or in between take sips of tea or coffee, evening comes, time to go back to our homes, catch our respective vehicles and return to our homes. Dispose of some pending work, go for some entertainment like listening to music or watching TV etc. then go for dinner and then as usual go to our bed. Those who stay at homes, I believe, also follow a set routine, probably. Does a thought comes in your mind that life has become monotonous and routine, you keep on doing everyday tasks mechanically and subconsciously or say automatically. My question to you is – What do you do to get rid of drudgery which creeps in everyday. Do you feel that weekends are enough to break the chain? Do you try to experiment with your daily routine to get rid of boredom or you just flow with the water? Your considered thoughts please. Thanks in advance.

Hi dpk, I have so far never felt that life is a bore ! It does get tedious and difficult and may be even unbearable- there is so much variety .
In our house there are things happening all the time , either someone is coming or going and i too travel quite a bit, and, there is the net which keeps me nicely occupied during my free time. All in all i am not bored or find the routine a drudgery as yet..

So you keep attending guests and enjoy being their host.
Surfing on the net is one of the interesting options to get rid of boredom. It is good that you know very well, how to keep yourself busy.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi dpk, not exactly that , I do like to have guests but not all the time..sometimes you want to be all alone and do things as you want instead of doing things as others want them. I always dream of being all alone and be free to lead my life..just kidding, because it is an impossible dream

Hello deepak! My daily routine is wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, take a bath, face the computer and talk to my husband, rest and some other necessary things. I don't usually go out unless I have some important things to do.

I am waiting for my visa now so I could join my husband. I actually just follow with the flow. I admit I got bored sometimes and my only happiness is when my husband and I will talk online.

Hi! Aisa!
So it is Computer and internet which keeps you busy all the day and specially talking to your husband, hopefully you talk to him on-line or do you talk to him on phone? I can understand that when you are staying away from him, your conversation with him becomes all the more important.
So, when are you likely to join him? How soon?
Thanks for enriching the post.

Really dpk, we would get bored and feel monotonous as well to do the daily routine repeatedly days after days. So we have some ways to make our daily a bit different. My husband and I would make a little change of the arrangement of furniture in our house. We try to get a new gadget so that we could have the fun by indulging in using it.
If we have save enough money we would try to upgrade the facilities or the structure of the house. We always try to save some money as well to have vacation in different places so that we could get ourselves refreshed again. If we don’t have sufficient expenses we then enjoy having economical local vacation during low season. We at least would feel better if we could stay away from our house or work place for some time.
Happy posting and take care.

Changing furniture or setting of the house appears a very bright idea. Going on vacation is the best, we all can do to get rid of boredom.
I appreciate your response. Many thanks for sharing and enriching the post.

While in the office if I get bored with work I log on to mylot or check my personal emails. Sometimes I just play some games online for a few minutes. I do not have sufficient time to finish my house work. So there is no time to get bored at home. But even then if I want to break away from the routine I just put on some music and sit in my room and read some books or magazines that I have stocked up and waiting to be read.

I know there is no end to house hold work specially for women. Reading magazines and listening to music are two very good options, I also do the same.
But do you feel that we live mechanically?

Yes, I also feel the same way, we are living like robots and life is simply mechanical and we just live it.

Yes life is become very mechanical. Half the time we are trying to please our bosses and colleagues. Then our spouse and kids. The rest of the time it is family, then the extended family, neighbours and friends. So where is the time for ourselves. We are living our lives like robots.

I like to read books or see movies to get rid of boredom. And sometime I may tell my husband that I feel so boring, and ask for him to have a tour together. If my husband was too busy to come along with me. I like to drive by myself to do a little sightseeing.

Yes, it's sad but true that most of us are stuck in a rut, so far as daily routine goes. I break the monotony by going out for a walk in the countryside, or calling my sister and inviting her out for lunch. It pays to get out of the village sometimes. I don't go out of the house to work, and you're right... we do tend to get into a monotonous routine.
Brightest Blessings, my friend.

I pray, when I feel bored I pray. and I feel good knowing and realizing that there is a lot of thing that I can do in a day to day basis, not to mention the everyday routine you're superb in finishing on a daily basis. I'm glad I am a working mother and twenty four hours a day, is truly not enough to finish all my task as a mother, wife and employee in a day's time. How can I be bored? there is no time at all.. :)

Hi aj2006! (Our log in number 2006 is same, incidentely)
So you pray, when you are not doing anything else. I agree with you that a working mother always remains busy and there is no time to get bored, even 24 hours are not enough for her.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Deepak,
Presently the word 'boredom' is not in my dictionary (lol). I agree your points; life is going on with same routine. But having a small kid at home my time is passing so fast even without my knowledge. May be in a later stage I may feel the same. Presently I am enjoying with him.

~ Respond to discussions like this one on mylot and Gather. I really enjoy enteracting with people, so I don't mind sharing what I know about life and in exchange I learn from others in the process. I don't know about you, but I rarely have those drudgery days anymore. When I'm bored, I find a good movie, eat my favorite snack(s), go online and just talk to people. More like type to people. I don't allow life to get me down and I definitely don't allow myself to get upset anymore. I enjoy life to the fullest and for as long as I will have breath in my body, I will continue to live this way. It is how I've been taught/trained in order to keep stress at bay and to live longer on this planet. So in essence I don't sweat the small stuff that can potentially creep in and distract us from the real goal of achieving what we have to accomplish in life. You see I know I'm here to be a blessing to someone, by the life I live. I know that by sharing my thoughts and words with others, a lot of times they will be encourgaged or motivated to change something about themselves that they didn't know existed before within them. So I keep myself ready to share my life experiences with them. You never know how much you impact other people, just by talking with them. Sometimes the best gift you can give someone is your time, just to listen to them.

Yes, you have given a good idea that I can listen to some friends and near and dear ones to make them happy, because now a days no one has time to listen.

When life becomes monotonous I look for a change.First of all I might just change the furniture set up in the house.I make new friends.I try out new hobbies- like if it was tarrot reading one year, you find my house filled with visitors curious about it;or some time ago I was crazy about the stock market and I sent my whole time there in the stock broking firm with a whole lot of new people who became close friends. Now the passion is for meditation so I have a whole new set of books and CD's and am surrounded by people who love satsang. So life is not just a routine for a person like me who tries to be jack of all.

So you try out new hobbies, it sounds great to me and in this way you get to learn different arts. It is really fantastic on your part, to learn so many new things. Have you become perfect in tarrot reading?
Would like you to share some meditation tips with me, please tell.

It does seem at times that our lives are programmed, and we live like robots, going through the same routine day in and day out.
When boredom sets in there are several things to add a little excitement.
1. call/ meet up with a friend
2. go for a walk in the park
3. go shopping
4. go to a movie
If you don't feel like going outide then you could,
1. Prepare a nice meal for yourself
2. Have a nice dessert
3. Rent or download a movie
4. Play a game of some sort
5. do something to earn extra money
These are just some suggestions, to add some change and excitement to the typical daily routine.
Hope it helped some.

yeah, i always try to sizzle things up, just so they would be different than the usual. you know what i mean? like, instead of wearing my hair this way or that, i experiment with something else and wear my hair with something new or different. i also chat with different people a lot, just about anything and everything under the sun. isn't that the same thing we do here in mylot? Yeah, and my lot really takes boredom away, anyday.

I usually went online checking out different things, or stay at mylot to keep myself busy. Or I would read a book. I think keeping one busy is really important for not getting bored. Sometimes I do spend the weekend watching some TV series to kill the time too, it's so occupying!

hi dpk, few months back I also started more or less the same discussion and was quite moved with a response of one of our fellow mylotters. Two days back, this woman's house was fully gutted in fire. She wrote that we should be thankful atleast we have a routine and added that she does not know from where she should start her day. This had a deep impact on my mind, after that whenever I get bored, I always try to take things in a positive manner.

They said " if your bored, then your boring!", . Well, i always like to treat myself after a hard days work, i go and watch movies, i go out and run, i join aerobic class, talk with people regarding bible and stuff, joining mylot. I write, i dance, i meditate, i read self help books about how to fight depression and all. There are life's ups and down, but im still here, just doing my purpose in this world, and that is to love and care people who need me.
Happy mylotting!!

To get rid of boring time. I usually stay with my friends, chatting with them, listening to their words inside and trying to help or to get help from them. This is really good, i think.
Of course, i would go walking streets alone or with my family or friends. what's more, hiking, fishing, surfing and doing some sports are also very good.
The most important thing is that, u should consider urself as living a life ,but not killing the time. Otherwise, u would probably kill urself . haha!
