How has the hit on the economy worldwide hit you and how have you coped with it?

I have recently been invited for an interview in a foreign country. I was pretty sure I did well on the interview but the most recent response I got was "the general uncertainty and with what's happening to the economy, approvals to fill the role has been slowed down. However, if we do get an approval ro fill the role, we will make an offer to one of the candidates" Dang, they didn't even specify if I passed or not. It's so hard to get new work nowadays, esp due to all the layoffs and cutdowns happening all over the world. I so desperately need to get out of my current work to one which pays more. Plus I need to save money for a wedding which I'm hoping I would be able to afford next year. Currently I just keep on applying everywhere hoping I'll be able to strike gold somewhere, someday...
