You know your child better then anyone. You have to figure it out. There are people that have true mental illnesses.I didnt know anything about it until i became very ill myself at age 21. I had a nervous break down and i was out of reality for years.Only therapy and medications helped me become stable. It is proven that mental illness is a chemical im balance that a person lacks in their brain. Its hard to say if your child has a mental illness but i have to tell you its real. After i became stable i worked for the mental health hospital for about 3 years. You would not believe the things ive seen.My advise to you is there is no miracle pill that will help your son. They will have to try different medications in order to find the right solution.like i said it took me two years. If you think he really has problems be sure to have him seen regularly. Also read as much information on his diagnosis as you can.Go to the library if you must.Knowledge is everything......Hope i helped.

There can many different diagnoise of a mental problems. Sometimes they are hard to figure out which one someoen has unless extensive testing is done.

I don't know. Sometimes I think that a therpist may see that someone has one of the symptoms of a certain mental illness and they just go ahead and diagnose because they have that one symptom. Maybe that is what is going on? I have no idea how many mental problems one can have.
