Do your cats want to stay outside in the snow?

I feel it weird for our cat to do that. Just this morning, our cat wants to go out from the house to walk around the snowy ground, as if he is catching something that is moving on the ground? hahaha I was giggling when I saw our cat enjoying himself outside. Do your cat do this too? I'm just wondering if their feet don't get cold? 6-7 inches thick snow as if our cat's feet are already buried but he doesn't want to get inside the house.. If your cat would do this, are you not worried he might be frozen? haha.. just curious!!!

Hello bebs08,
I used to have 3 cats which i was living 2 years ago i moved to a different country so my mum is taking care of them. But when i was with them i was living in an apartment which had 4 floors, I was living in the middle flat and had 3 balconies , they liked to go out to balcony when it snows and like to roll over on the ground, Especially one of them was totally balck, and when he rolls over and gets in the house it looks really funny, which became a white cat :)
I am missing them so much!

Oh that's funny..I have a cat but we don't get snow here in the Philippines. I think my cat would be afraid of snow or even step on it since we don't have it here.

My garage cat pries opened locked doors to get out, xD and it's winter. He does that, the little houdini, because the doggie door's not fixed from what the previous owners of this house did to it.
My kitty doesn't mind the snow at all. He even ignores me when I call him, some days, for dinner!

Cats are just plain nosey by nature. They want to check everything out. Now my cat has no interest in going outside to see snow or anything else but then again would you if there were two big huskies looking at you?
She just sits at the door and watches. My huskies aren't mean but she's not much into being a chew toy for them to play with! LOL
I wouldn't worry about your cat too much. Her feet are well equippped for the snow with padding. She'll probably get her curiosity filled and be coming back in soon! LOL

It is really amazing. Your cat is so lovely and I think it must love snow very much as some people do. My family kept feeding cats when we were still in the villiage and we all love cats. But we often get too many pains from deaths or lost of our cats. I would like to have a cat like yours. It is so cute.

My Cats are afraid to go outside they freak out.
Now my dog on the otherhand just loves the snow even though he's got short legs he bounds over the snow like a graceful deer w/ floppy ears!

Well ours really wanted to go out all the time even it's cold in winter but my husband don't usually let them. He's training these guys very much. I too don't like letting them out often because they keep on knocking the door after 5 or 10 mins outside and I keep on opening and it's cold. But we usually let them out more often during summer and spring......mostly on summer they stayed out overnight.

actually no. My cats wont even step outside when there is snow on the ground. In the summer they just die to go outside but in the wonter its a no-no. Its usually minus 20+ so I can see why they don't like outside,Either do I. There indoor cats anyway so it really doesn't matter.

Lol, that is funny! Our cat used to stay outside in all weather, though she did have a barn to stay in if she needed, but it was not unusual to see her playing in the snow. She didn't seem to have a problem with the cold at all.
Now that she is very old though, she stays in the house, and HATES the cold and snow! She still does her business outside like a dog, and when she needs to go she stands at the door and meows. But when it's cold she gets her business done as fast as she can and then runs back to the door and meows as loud as she can!

I don't think my cat will ever step outside the door. If I wanted to bring her to the vet it would be her worst day. Although she is in the basket but yet she will freak out. I can't imagine her going out in a sunny lovely day, so what about a snowy day. She just love sitting infront of a "closed" window looking at the street from inside.
About them getting cold or not, I think they do. My cat loves to sleep next to me under the cover although she has thick hair. I envy your cat as he is more brave than mine. Good for him and you.

My one cat is like that for sure. She's a barn cat and even when the temperature is low, she just wants to stay outside. When we got down to around 10 and below, I had to hunt her down just to get her to come onto the enclosed porch because I was afraid she'd freeze or something. And then if I opened the connecting door to the garage, she'd shoot out of there so fast and I'd have to go out and bring her back in. I guess some cats just prefer being outside more than in.
