What does pop mean?

It's a music genre but what does that word mean?

When i was a teen.pop music was like the bubble gum cutsey kind of music. Like the osmaonds and the jackson five. now I think pop music is just what all the youn gkids listen too. Like jonas brothers and such. At least thats what i call pop.
