Sky T.V, good value? Or is it just a rip-off?

Over the past 10 years Sky T.V has grown massively. Now you get a Sky HD Box which allows you to view your favourite shows in glorious high-def!
You've not got a HDTV you say?
Well you can record your favourite shows with a touch of a button with Sky+.
And now you can get a Sky HD box for £49 or $69, which is great value!
But with the hiiden contract fees you cant help but feel ripped off?
Whats your views?

Because of the digital switch over in my area i bought a Sky+ Box and got discounts because the switch over. I feel Sky+ is good enough but i have never actually looked at the Bills im paying for it although i feel they are adding money on now. There was a slight hassle when i was buying, they most likely didnt want to give discounts.
