Had our grand daughter over again on Saturday. This is a shot of her in my lazy boy chair in my office. She loves her feet now as she lifts her legs up all the time attmepting to grasp them tighhtly. She has a terrible cold. She is so congested I could feel it in her chest as I held her and she breathed and or coughed. I felt so sad for her but it will go away. At 5 months old there's not a lot to do for her cold. So have you ever had an infant with a terrible cold? What did you do to ease their pain etc during their cold etc? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That looks so pretty AGB! We never really have snow long enoough any more to worry too much about clearing paths or driveways - a lot of people in England had more snow than we did earlier this year! Having said that there is seemingly a forecast that my area is meant to get snow showers tonight and tomorrow which is unusual! I bet it still won't be as pretty as your place! xxx

OOps so sorry AGB - I had 2 of your discussions opened in tabs right next to each other and my previous response was meant for the other discussion! I always feel so bad when such little babies are ill. I used to take Niamh into a steamy bathroom to try and ease her congestion as well as making sure she had lots of cuddles and drinks! Hope she feels better soon! xxxxx

At 5 months old you have to be really careful if the cold goes to their chest. She should have been taken to the doctor. He would probably put her on breathing treatments if she was wheezing. Also, he probably would have given her an antibotic.

You guys just worry too much she is fine. She was a little raspy for about half a day then all better. The doctor would have said give her tylenol and vicks which we already did

I will be Praying for little Savannah, and hope she is on the mend soon. I know that it must be rough on here, because it was for me. I am still coughing at times from a Cold I got like 5 weeks ago. You just need to keep an eye on her and make sure she does not start running a fever too high, and keep her warm. Wishing her the Best.

Aww--hate to hear Savanna has a bad cold. Is there anyway "mom" could give her steambaths??? You know go to the bathroom, shut the door and turn on the hot water in the shower? How about a vaporizer kind of thing with steam heat from it and add vicks to it?? Believe it or not, in the past I used to do this for my cats if they got colds and it would work wonders for them...of course they weren't exactly thrilled with it..LOL, but it did help them too.

Hi friend, I am so sorry about your grandbaby. Hopefully she's on the mend. When my middle child was an infant, he had terrible Croup. You know that barking cough? I remember when we lived in the apartment my husband out on the balcony with my son in minus 12 - 15 degrees and he would bundle him all up and sit out there for hours with him. That was the only thing that would cut through that croup. I just thank God he grew out of it. Good luck and keep us posted. Cheryl

Hi Grandpa Bob! Oh my, I am sorry for her having that terrible cold. My nieces and nephews when they were little babies, usually get colds often because of the changing of the weather often here in our country. We usually nebulize them whenever they have congestion or clogged nose but don't put any medicines in the nebulizer just some sterile water. We also apply some liniment for cold on their chest area just to give them some relief. It usually works. Take care and blessings to you! lovelots..faith

Yes my kids when little and my grandkids have had bad colds and it is horrible. I don't remember what the doctor had me do with my kids but I do remember the grandkids needed inhaler machines (sorry can't think of the name of them off hand) for bronchitis. They can also get so sick so fast, poor little babies.

i had..my daughter when she was 2 months old, she had a bad cold and like your Savanna she was congested and i feel it every time she breathes..my sister-in-law gave me a evaporator something..i don't know what its called but its a vaporizer where you put in a water inside it plug it so the water will boil inside while there was a smoke coming out that vaporizer..i use to lay her down my knees and let her breathe the smoke so her cold will come out her nose..that way she felt relieved and she will start to breathe normal

I hate it when babies are sick, it makes me feel so bad! When my boys were little they didn't get sick much but I remember one time the youngest had a cold and I used Vicks on his chest (which they now say not to do!) and a vaporizer in his room. Neither of us got much cleep, although when he cried it seemed to help loosen up the congestion a bit. He slept in his car seat-when he slept!- so that he could have his head safely elevated and I was right there with him all the time. His brother, a year older, brought me diapers and bottles! I had such sweet children... I hope Savanah feels better soon and her mom gets enough rest!

I really feel for kids who are sick. My little girl has had it rough from birth. She was 5 months old when she had full blown flu, it was rough. My husband, and I had it as well, but thankfully our 5 year old didn't get it. She's now 18 months old and she's had Croup which hosptialized her, she's had RSV 3 times, along with Pink eye, and finally got over all that, only to get the stomach flu. It's been a mess. She's still on breathing treatments from all the crap she's had just to help her... Best of luck getting your precious little granddaughter better!!

Maybe you should ask a doctor or call the hospital and see what they would do. If it gets worse then don't second guess yourself - just take her to the doctor.

Your grand daughter must be about 5 by now. My kids have had tons of colds while infants. The nurse who took care of my daughter when I was in the hospital when she was born had a terrible cold. Well about a week later my poor little baby got her first cold at a week old :(
