Friend? Friend. Friend? Friend.

I received a friends request today from somebody that I would have sworn was already on my list. We have known each other for ages, but never really got round to addressing the business of formal "Friendship". Do you have friends that aren't on your friends list but that you think are, or should be?

I have this one guy that has a fishy name and a cute little avvy, but for the life of me I can't decide to keep him or throw him back...........
I'll let you know what I decide! LOL
Nah, I never worry about who should, who is, who shouldn't and who didn't. They come and go and even though I periodically clear out my list, I only get rid of the non active or banned ones.

Oh P1ke if I was going to make you gasp for air it wouldn't be because you were, um, 'out of water'! ROFL
Hey Alice, no we aren't related. Just good friends with 'virtual' benefits.ROFL

*L* Well, if I think they are friends, they probably are on my list, if they are not, and want to be, all they have to do is ask. The only ones I don't approve, generally, are the ones I have never seen on my discussions or any of the ones I have responded to.
Are YOU on my friends list, pikey? Would you like to be?*L*

Yes Pikie, all that and more. There are some I should remove because I have their alerts turned off. There are some who are very inactive but I hope they will pop in from time to time. I think with some of them they are past it though. There are a couple I would like to be friends with but the last person in that category rejected me, so I can do without that.

I don't think that I have any friends not on my friends list - or i would have put in a request by now... I think! lol Having said that it turned out the other weeek that a friend I have had for a long time was not on my friends list - seemingly though they had deleted most of their friends for a specific reason - glad to say back on their list now. #As long as you don't delete me or I would feel hopeless and abadoned my darling! xxxx

Hi p1ke..at the moment I am wary of adding anyone to my friends list with all the trolls and hackers around, if I was you I would look through all your friends to see if you still have this friend on your list if you do don't accept the person who has asked for your friendship..a bit of advice please I have received an email saying to unsubscribe from mylot..personally I think this maybe a hacker...hugs LoLo

You know what might have happened? Well, some people here have recently lost their account for various reasons (I think there were some errors on myLot that led to this, and also some problems with trolls). So they have now re-created their account, but in doing so lost all of their friends. So it could be that you were friends with this person, but they just need to add to again so that you can be on their friends list once more.
I did a double-take when a friend re-added me the other day (maybe the same person as you're talking about), but then I remembered a discussion he'd posted about this.
Or I could be completely wrong!! Maybe it was just somebody you've come across lots in discussions, and you feel as if you are already friends, (lol!)
Sorry if people have already said similar. I'm answering this from email, so I haven't seen the other answers.

Ah, I see! I'm glad you got it sorted out, and that you and James are officially friends now.

Yes, there are a few friends that I respond to often that I thought were already on my friends list but weren't. There is also one person that I was on their friends list and I guess they deleted me off for some reason. I don't know why they would have deleted me though. I respond to their posts all the time. And when I write new discussions they would hardly ever respond to mine. This is a person that lots of people on here know too. I'm not asking to be their friend again though because they deleted me for some reason and I don't know what that reason is. I'm not really bothered by it though. I still respond to their posts when I see them.

People do things for all sorts of reasons. Some people may have been deleted then restored losing friends along the way. Your policy makes sense to me. If they deleted you out of anger or annoyance don't give them the satisfaction of lowering yourself to their level.

Hi p1,
So far, they are on my list and I am active in their post. But, whenever I will encounter someone who will be very active in my post and I am sure not in my list yet, I will send a request right away!

Yup. Happened to me just the other day. I could have sworn they were on it! But come to find out they weren't. It's funny..we talk with these people all the time and we just assume they're on the list but then we go to send them a PM and THAT'S when we find out the real scoop! And invariably, the other person has assumed the same thing and is as mystified as myself. What....myself mystified? Yeah, right.

Hi P1kef1sh, This actually happened to me a while back when I said I would PM someone who I thought was on my friends list and when I went to discovered we weren't so had to add on discussion with apologies but she had thought the same bless, but we are friends now. I think because we intereact within so many discussions together we really don't realise at times that the formalities of requesting and accepting haven't actually taken place. You are not alone in this one. Huggles. Ellie :D

There are a lot of people here that I swear I have on my friend's list, I'm always answering their thoughts. But no, they aren't really.
There are quite a few I'd like to have as friends, they always start such lovely discussions. But I'm shy, I just answer and go on my way.

I don't think I've got anyone I think should be a friend but isn't, but I do have some utter PITA who can't take NO for an answer and is requesting to be my friend even though I keep denying their request. As far as I can tell, they aren't posting or responding to discussions but they have money making schemes mentioned on their profile. I'm really not interested and am convinced that they only want me as a friend so they can PM me drivel. They seem to be unable to take the hint though. Grrrr!
Sorry, I've obviously been looking for an opportunity to rant and you gave me the perfect opening :-)

How lovely, to find a friend you already had! I'm sure I often assume people are on my friends list when they actually aren't - and I know I've been taken off a couple of friends' lists, too. No idea why - it's a shame they didn't tell me what had upset them - but that's life on myLot!
