Thanks myLot!

Recently I started a discussion that was spammed as some of you that responded will know. I was worried that the whole discussion was going to be deleted even though a fellow myLot friend tried to re-assure me! I really didn't want my discussion deleted because of some blatant spammer, it simply isn't fair but thanks to Mylot they didn't delete the whole discussion and just removed the spammers response. So I thank you myLot for that! I know that there were at least 70 odd other discussions this spammer appeared in so I am not taking it personally and I hope that myLot managed to just remove the response from those discussions too!
Have you ever had a discussion spammed? Have you had a discussion deleted because of a spammer?

I had one of my discussions deleted last week, I couldn't understand it. The discussion was just about" what does the stars mean next to your name", I didn't get a lot of replys and I didn't upset anyone so I couldn't understand it. My husband said that probably someone had put a link on, so they took it off, thats really unfar, now I no lots of people go through this

amanda all the discussions regarding stars, earnings, ratings, etc., etc., get deleted. They are all repeat topics and all the queries can be answered in the FAQs.

Stars appear under DRS
Hope that helps.

Hello amanda333
I too had a discussion deleted but this was about 7 months ago and that was just about what people have on their bedside table which got a fair amount of responses too. I was not aware of any violation it may have incurred! It is right that they just delete the response that contains the unrelated, spam link so that is good that the whole discussion doesn't get deleted!
Cheers amanda

Hi ya empressofdrac and welcome back!!
I don't think a lot has changed recently, obviously there are more spammers trying it on as of late but that's about it I think. I hadn't even noticed there was a new layout!! LOL I am on nearly everyday and didn't even notice!
Thanks for your response, see you around!!

It was yesterday or the day before, I got three responses from the idiot on two different discussions. I reported them and I assume their responses were deleted but I didn't actually go back and check. the discussions are still there. Hooray!

Hi there lucy19851120
I am sorry but I am not sure of what you are trying to say. It is a violation of the myLot rules to put a link into a discussion that is not related to the subject of the discussion.
Thank you for your response and happy mylotting

I had someone spam one of my earlier discussions and I was quite incensed about it, it had absolutely nothing to do with my discussion and like your discussion it was a referral link, so I reported it and low behold the response and NOT the discussion was deleted! So when I read that you were worried I thought, no they wouldn't just pull a discussion, it didn't make sense, what if a spammer kept doing that? That would mean they could destroy any discussion at will! So it makes sense really, I didn't want to say much, although as I stated I was 90% sure this would be the case. So all's well that ends well! Just shows that spammers are not wanted and will NOT be tolerated here, we all want a clean site. Glad to see they acted promptly my friend ;0)

Hi ya wolfie34
I had a discussion deleted ages ago and still haven't figured out why. I have never felt the need to start a discussion that run the risk of deletion as I am sure you know. Well I am glad it was only the response that got deleted as I would have felt bad for those that responded too! I do see your point that it wouldn't make any sense for discussions to get deleted in their entirety, just the response being deleted is enough!
Cheers wolfie

Oh! I never had any idea that there are spammers in here. I thought there are just few who are not pleased with our discussions due to racial or cultural or opinion differences. Now that you have started a discussion about this, I would be more cautious this time and report it to Mylot just in case I will encounter one. Perhaps, am just giving no so much attention and prefer to ignore it that is why I know nothing. By the way, thanks for this topic.
Well, I had this discussion before and a respondent gave me a provocative reply, but I ignored it. After then, I knew someone made or gave me a negative rate for unknown reason. At first, I get affected with it, but ignored it afterwards because I can't do nothing about it because I have no idea who he/she was.
Until, I have to cross discussions each day with similar topics like yours. I think, Mylot is doing its job and making investigations about these or those who are trying to wreck this site or anyone here. I just hope spammers would stop.

Hi ya maean_19
Well I hope I have enlightened you anyway if nothing else LOL I try to avoid discussions that cause controversy as I don't wish to make an enemy of anyone that has stronger opinions about something than I do! I like to keep my discussions light hearted if I can but it is not always possible!
Thanks for your response

Hi ya mymytri
Were you the one that said they were going to follow them around reporting them until their account was deleted from myLot? Trouble is that they can come back with a new account and name if they wish can't they?
Thanks for your response and letting me know the income, good ole myLot

Yes often. I report just the one response and only the one response gets deleted (unless the whole discussion is a violation of course).
Those who get their entire discussion removed is never because of just one response in violation of the rules but because the discussion itself is a violation.

Someone spammed one of my discussions about 2 days ago. You and another myLotter were talking to him about the fact that you had reported him. I really expected the entire discussion to be gone on Monday but it was still there! I was really surprised! Both your response and his spamming were gone though.
You're just so nice, you don't even remember doing it!

Hello humbug25! Wow! You're very lucky. It's so nice that mylot considers your discussion and just delete the spammers. I thought that if one responder will violate the discussion, the discussion will eventually deleted.
I never tried to be spammed yet (I hope never) and I have no discussion who got deleted because of spammer.

Good thing for me, I haven't had that experience as per my recollection. It appears to me that mylot is listening to the suggestions of it's members. I remember one discussion that dealt with that. That if ever there are respondents to a legitimate discussion that's causing the discussion to be a spam or violating rules, to just delete the response instead of deleting the whole discussion, which affects the income of the author that started the legitimate discussion. I, too, would like to thank mylot for being open to suggestions.

I don't remember if I ever had any. I just recently returned to mylot again so if I lost any old discussion I wouldn't have known. but I thought that's what mylot did. If people report the spammer's response, not the whole discussion, I don't think mylot will delete the whole discussion. Some people probably have reported the whole discussion, so mylot removed it entirely, whereas they supposed to hit report button on the spammer's response only. Not sure if mylot read before they delete anything, but they might not have time to read all discussions that have been reported since trolls also reported discussions for their own advantage.

Hey there, humbug25, and no is far as I know none of my discussions have been deleted for spammers, but I'm glad that your topic was not deleted it wouldnt be fair, if they deleted your topic over something someone else did, but it was kind of mylot to keep the topic.

Good thing you didn't have your discussion removed, cause that would've been really lousy of them. personally I've had only 2 discussions, and neither of them got spammed, I think the discussions that get spammed are the popular ones. althought I've never come across a spammer here on mylot.
Happy mylotting

Hi agirlfromtomorrow
Sorry I haven't responded to your response sooner as I have been a bit busy!! Why were your 2 discussions deleted then? Well I too am glad mine didn't get deleted because of the spammer. I don't think you see too many of them about thanks to myLot!

Wow, I'm new to myLot and I was worried about something like that. Because if your discussion is deleted then there's no way you could make any earnings off of your posts. I really like the way myLot handles the situation with spammers. Thanks for letting everyone know.
