The Difference Between "old" Ciao and "new" Ciao

I just joined Ciao, and I have heard that it functioned differently in the past. What I heard was that you used to get $1.00 per review, rather than 1-3 cents per rating. Did you still get the "per rating" bonus with the old Ciao, or was it just the flat rate of $1.00 per review, ever? What are the main differences between "old" Ciao and "new" Ciao? Which one do you prefer?

I signed up, but they wouldn't let me activate my account. From what I had heard in the past it was an actual job to have. So, it sounds like it isn't so much anymore. I don't know. I wouldn't actually mind the change really. It's not that I wouldn't like to type up reviews for a dollar (how cool is that?) but that I kind of have this view that every little bit helps. I know that I'm not the only one with this mindset. But, I do think that it is okay that they changed. Just not really nice of them. Haha. Anyone have any clue how I can make them accept my activation? I just get a blank white screen. Someone once gave me some vague advice about it. But, I couldn't figure it out.

Ciao only pays per rates your reviews get. I suppose for people who are social or for those who do a lot of rates (in the hope of a Rate Back), this could be lucrative. But for the rest of us there are alternatives (you'll have to check out if your country/payment methods are available) 1. Associated Content. They like reviews of current and/or cult products, and they can take like a week to approve them. But if you get it approved that's about 3.5$. 2. Helium. If you have a rating and writing star it can be lucrative. Depending on the stars and whether you're the first reviewer, you could get anywhere from .50 to 3.5 at the end of the month (I get about 2$). 3. Epinions. When they have their promos (and they are having a March promo) you can earn quite a few bucks. You can get paid upfront for up to 25 reviews. Depending on the categories it could be anywhere from .75 - 1.5$. Be sure to read the official rules if you are interested (so you can pick the most lucrative categories) 4. Reviewstream. You don't have an official account, and the payout's really high, and it's fairly easy for them to kick you out if you don't take the time to follow the rules to the dot. However if you get used to them and what they want you can easily pull off the 2$ per review mark. 5. Comparedby.us . Fairly new site, they do pay. Their system is a bit strange in that only "real" members get paid. They have this membership system to weed out the spammers and bad writers. Some people find waiting to upgrade annoying, but you do get paid 1$ per review once you reach the 3d and last level. 6. Bukisa. Ok, you don't get paid upfront. However the shared revenue is so high it's easy to earn a lot quickly. You only need about 300 views to earn 1$. That's really not that hard.

thanx for the information. i don't like ciao anymore as used to when I joined 2 months back for the simple fact that you can earn only on the ratings of your reviews and your review has to be extremely good to be selected in the money pool. I used to like it because i can share information in the form of reviews for the products i know. but now i don't know whether i will get cents for writing a review.

I have been hearing a lot abut Ciao but I have not joined. I wonder if it is easy to make some money at ciao compared to mylot? Cheers!!

I joined Ciao three days ago and have already made more there than I have made in several weeks at MyLot. On the other hand, Ciao is more like actual 'work' whereas MyLot is mostly laid-back discussion.

I prefer the old ciao. It's easy to earn before you can earn in every review you write unlike now. Even if you write lots of review you will not earn anything if they didn't read and rate your review. Before if you write they will pay you $1 aside from the cents that you will receive if they read and comment your reviews. When i joined mylot I wrote 23 reviews and they pay me $6 and i already cash it out last month and it's my first and last payment there cause i decided not to pursue it because of the changes they have made there.

Yes maybe ciao is also affected by the recession.. mmmm.... I think ciao is better in its past time because now u cant even get paid unless u review a certain item... I did made an account there but never earned anything! why? coz im not the kind of person who checks out every detail of a product... well for otherss stick 2 it..

I don't even know how it works. I just signed up yesterday. From what I can see, you only get to rate the one product they have up on the screen? Is that how it works or am I wrong? Like this week it's Garth Brooks' new album.
