I need some quick advice from you dog lovers out there. My daughter has a blue heeler that is pregnant for the first time. She apparently is in labor. I don't have any experience in birthing puppies because all the dogs I have ever had took care of it themselves. Sadie is howling. We have her in the bathroom because it is so cold outside here now and I am worried that something might be wrong. She's not howling continuously or terribly loud but my daughter is worried and it's rubbing off on me. It's been a long time since I lived on a farm and had to care for animals. Does anyone have any advice?

I think she will now. She seems to have learned what she is supposed to be doing.

I hope everything is well with your dog, but if she is still in labor, you can help her by massaging her tummy in a downward circle motion. U can also help her by GENTLY pulling the puppies out as u see the first sign of them.If all else fails, run 2 your nearest emergency vet. I hope everything turns out ok.

Thank you so much for coming to my discussion. We finally got everything to work out well. After the first one things seemed to return to normal and proceeded pretty much the way nature intended. See the comment above for a more complete report.
