20 healthiest low-cost foods

Here's a useful list of foods that are low-cost,healthy and their benefits. Do you frequently eat any of these foods?
1. Oats- they are high in fiber and lower cholesterol
2. Eggs- good source of protein and antioxidants
3. Kale- full of vitamin C, carotenoids, and calcium
4. Potatoes- source of potassium and Vitamin C
5. Apples- Vitamin C and fiber
6. Nuts- essential fatty acids, protein, vitamin E
7. Bananas- potassium and fiber
8. Garbanzo beans- source of protein and fiber, iron, folate, manganese
9. Broccoli- calcium, vitamin A and C, potassium, folate, and fiber
10. Watermelon- hydrates, Vitamin C, potassium, lycopene
11. Wild Rice- high in protein and fiber, potassium and B vitamins
12. Beets- folate, iron, antioxidants
13. Butternut squash- fiber, vitamin A and C
14. Whole Grain pasta- high in protein and B vitamins
15. Sardines- calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and B vitamins

Thanks for sharing those low cost foods. It's beneficial to everyone reading this discussion. I am happy to eat some of those foods. . . By the way, I don't drink coffee, I just drink tea. Is tea also an antioxidant?

Yes, I should have included tea on that list. I think it's even better for you than coffee. I drink green tea all the time for the health benefits. Thank you for your comment. :)

These are right on with everything I've read about health. And to point out how inexpensive they are is a benefit people might not realize. I regularly eat oatmeal, the kind that isn't packed with sugar. In fact, the heart healthy kind I eat has only 2g of sugar. I don't like oatmeal that much, but I know it is healthy, so I eat it anyway. And like you said, it is cheap. That is the main reason I bought it.
I also enjoy spinach salad. There are many light or fat free dressings that are perfectly yummy. I prefer spinach salad to any other kind of "lettuce". And the other one I frequently consume is lowfat milk. Sometimes I even go for soy milk, but that is very often more expensive.
