Candy wrappers: place them in a trash can then trow them away later

My parents taught me, "Never, never, never throw your candy wrappers on the street whenever you can't find a trash can around. Just keep an eye for one and throw them away later. Or bring them home and dispose of them properly."
This is something I grew up with and something that I will teach my children and grandchildren someday. Even if I am at a place where there are maintenance crews all the time, I make it a point to keep the wrappers and look for a trash can. I know they are paid to clean up the mess but if you can do it yourself, I don't see why you should leave them for the cleaning crew to pick up. This is my way of saving the planet. One candy wrapper at a time. :D
What do you do if you can't find a trash can?

That's a really good policy to have.
I don't just apply it to candy wrappers heh... I pretty much apply it to any rubbish I have. If I can't find a bin I'll just stick it in my pocket to throw out at home, or if it's too large, I'll just carry it until I find somewhere to throw it out properly.
I really can't stand littering. It absolutely drives me insane to be out in public and see people just randomly throw things on the ground. What's even worse is when people do it and they're standing right beside a trash can!
I feel like thumping them upside the head when they do that.

i was not raised that way, but i do the samething. i will just put it in my pocket or purse and i will throw it away when i get home. i don't think that you should just throw it on the grown. not only is it not good for the planet, but who wants to live anywhere there is a lot of garbage. just think of how much garbage there would be in the streets if everyone in america threw their wrappers in the street. it would pile up fast.

Thank you for responding to this discussion, although this was the one I posted accidentally with typos. sorry.
Yes, i agree. we have to have the initiative to clean up after ourselves. Specially the things we can do like throwing our candy wrappers properly in the trash can.
who doesn't hate seeing a pile of garbage everywhere? I agree with you in that point again... so, keep our environment clean and save the planet.
