How do you pick your best responses?

how do you pick your best responses? Do you read them all and the one that sounds the best is the one you pick? If you don't get a lot of responses, do you just pick the first one? How long do you wait to make your decision?
I try to pick the best answer, but if there is only one or two, then i pick the first or only person that answers back.
What do you do?

Hi Melissapalardy, I think it is important to make sure you really pick the best response that you get for your discussions and I take this task seriously. I not only make sure I read all my responses that my discussions get, but I always comment them back too. This helps to keep your discussion alive and may even help in your decision on which response is the best. Sometimes it is not that easy to pick the best because there may be a few that deserve to be titled the BR. It may take me several days to choose who deserves the best response. I never pick the best response until a wait of 5-7 days after my last response. This way it gives everyone a change to try to achieve that goal.
I have seen many members pick the best response the first day of their discussion. This is not fair to the other members who may want to join the discussion. To me, it seems that the author has just closed the discussion and this may stop me from posting a response. Now, that author makes less money since he/she will no longer have a chance to comment on my response.
Choose your best response on who deserves it and give it time to get as many responses as possible. If you only get 1 or 2 responses then try to pick from them.

I had to chuckle when I read the title of this post - and then saw the disclaimer at the bottom: this user has not selected a best response!
This issue does not apply to me, because no one ever responds to my posts anyway (sob)

And then I read the first reply. And realised I was second of two. Sorry - I kind of imagined this topic would have got loads of replies. Makes me feel a bit better about my own starter thread efforts.
