What are the reasons why a person is SHY?

One thing for sure that makes a person SHY, it's because he lack skills. Like for example, when you bring her to a party she seemed aloof maybe because she lacks interpersonal skills. Some people well like me, I'm scared of public speaking or speaking in front of people even in just a small gathering ever since when I was in high school merely because I lack communication skills. So what do you think the reason you are shy? huh? well if you're not shy in any occasions well congratulations! keep it up!
