If you are good at observation, you may find that fewer people today prefer to going to the cinema to watching TV at home. And this phenomenon is proved by the above gragh. Let's look at the graph. It shows that from 1975 to 1985,the number of TV watchers increased steadily, while the number of film-goers drastically decreased. There are I think,at least two reasons for this trend. First of all, sitting in front of the TV,can always find his/her favoriteprogram, for there is always a great variety of programs which can satisfy different tastes. But in the respect, the cinema can never be compared with TV. Secondly,it is simply easy and comfortable for people to watch TV indoors. Watching TV saves people the trouble of going out and lining up for tickets and so on.They just sit somewhere, and with the remot controller in hand, enjoy themselves. Nevertheless few as they are, some people always enjoy going to the cinema.TV can never take the place of the film for these people. For them, the film always has its unique charm. They go to the cinema. TV can never take the place of the film for these people. For them, the film always has its unique charm. They go to the cinema for the particular atmosphere and the feeling of getting involved in the action. As we know,no dish suits all tastes. Similarly, while many people prefer watching TV at home,a few like go to the cinema.

The problem for me, and for many of my friends with children is that they have spent so much making the movies that by the time they get to the box office, they are so expensive that families cannot afford tickets except for special occasions. Our local theater is $8 at night to see one movie per person. When you have 3 children, that's a family of 5. $40 just to get in and then who can watch a movie without popcorn and a drink? Well that might be another $50. You can purchase a whole lot of DVD's for $90

I agree totally, I'm not a parent so my spending is less, but I can rent a new release movie for about 4 dollars or less that saves 11 dollars right there when me and my girlfriend want to see a movie. I can pop my own popcorn and buy pop from the store theres another 7 dollars saved, and I dont have to hear other people laughing, talking or screaming. I wont have to deal with people walking down the aisle forcing me to stand up so they can get through, I can pause it if I have to use the bathroom, and the worse thing about any short person going to the movie, I wont have to worry about someone taller than me sitting in front of me so I cannot see the screen
