Anyone else remember Excite Chat?

i know it's been 10 years, but i still remember Excite chat. it was the best site for chatting. you made your on avatars you could link up with people. i have looked but i have never found one better than excite was before they got bought out. how about you?

i dont think i have ever used that site before. it seems like it is a pretty good site for chatting on. i might try it out.

Some of the best mates I have ever made and still have to do this day I met on excite chat. We used to have so much fun and we used to catch up together for drinks in different capital city's just to meet 'the people' we spoke to every day. Gawd my collection of avatar's was huge and to I still miss it everyday. Those were the days !!!

Bumpity bump!
Wow, I would love to find some of my old excite chat friends! I would also kill to find any information/history about excite chat and what it was before excite bought it. I seem to remember it being an irc channel in the beginning but Wikipedia has not info at all. Lets keep this freakin discussion alive someone has to know something!

Hi sparky. Ten years ago I didn't even have a computer. I was to get my first one about a year later. I'm not familiar with the site you mention but I do remember my few brief forays into the world of chat. I could never get it...everything would go so fast and I could not keep up. Everyone seemed to know each other and newbies were quickly greeted, ignored and left behind. Yet I have a friend who met her husband in a chat room. They got to know each other in the chat room. Is there a special knack to using chat rooms?

I remember excite chat, it was one of the best the was around at the time. Making the avatars could be pretty tricky. It was neat when you could link up with someones's avatar. Though, there hasn't been one like that, they have those virtual worlds where you can make your own avatars, and live in another world.
