Our lab just LOVES to eat!

and we just can't help but give her some treats every time she asks because she gives us the sad puppy face every time!
what can we do to minimize this?
we're scared she'd become overweight..
which would be hard because she loves to run around and swim in the sea..

hehehehe just like my boy lab, I used cookies to train him tricks so now everytime when I look like having something on my hands, he thinks it is cookies :-p I have a good control of giving him cookies because I don't want him to get overweight and always beg for people.
Can I ask you a question? What size is your labrador?

We have three dogs, so I understand your dilemna! One in particular is really bad about begging for treats. She will sit in front of the cabinet where they are and look up so sadly! It is so hard to resist those begging eyes, but we have to do it for our dogs' own good. They are depending on us to take good care of them. You just have to be strong and learn to resist! She might be working off the calories now, but as she gets older these bad eating habits will be a problem.
Train her not to beg for treats by refusing to give them to her when she asks. Just give her the "talk to the hand" sign and hold your ground. Begin giving her treats when she's not asking for them, maybe at the same time every day so she'll learn that treats still exist but only show up when she's not asking for them.
