Speaking In Tongues? God or sth else?

I am a person with a lotta rage so one time me and my mother were having a discussion. I said that it would be alot better in life if God would just tell me what to do and show himself. And I was yelling that and mocking mom. And then she started speaking in tongues. Which I have not heard her do. She scared the crap out of me, and I ran away. If that is how God presents himself, I dunno if I wanna be around it. What causes a sane person to do sth like that? Coincidence that I called God out right at that time? It truly did sound like another language, except I heard it repeat Coca over and over and it made me think of coca cola. Serious Question. Thanks.

i've heard this and witness this too. i went to a bible study class with some friends of my. and they wanted to pray for me that my back would heal.
as they al stood around me, with hands on my back. this lady started to speak in tongue and freak me out
so i had a meeting with the pastor and asked him about it. he was like yeah that is how god comes to you and give her a power to heal you. we don't often know what we are saying when speaking in tongue.
but as far as you seeing god or him telling you want to do. sometime it's right in front of us, and we don't see it. like with me. i lost my faith and wanted to regain it. but i learned one thing god wanted me to do was to get help with my bipolar, depression and my temper.
so often we try to figure out what he wants us to do, you start with admitting your faults and mistakes and making yourself a better person how we treat and respect people
