I quit my job a little over a month ago. I worked at a daycare, and there are several reasons why I quit. One reason is because when things were happening to the kids the workers lied about what had happend to the parents. I think that is so wrong. Every parent has a right to know what happens to their children while in someone else's care. Another reason is because the owner allow their workers to basically run things. They let 2 of the workers that have been their for a long time tell them what to do, are very disrepectful to all workers that won't kiss their butts, and the owners also ask these two ladies who to they should fire and hire. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever been in a situation like this, and if so what did they do.

Yes! I actually quit a job at a daycare for many of the same reasons and then some! Not one believes me when I tell them how horrible the daycare was. But, at the one I worked at, I was stuck in a room all day with a pothead who would come back from her lunch break reaking of the stuff and I'm allergic! So, I'd be suffering from violent headaches and feeling sick and ready to blow while I was trying to manage little children. We also had a serverly disabled child in our care but we were not equipped to deal with his needs he would cut open the window screen with scissors and escape! He bit one worker on the chest, and was just really hard to manage. I told the manager that his mother should be brought in for a discussion on how best to deal with him and she refused! So, one of the workers brought in a kiddie leash to work one day and they would keep him on the leash. Don't get me wrong those leashes are good in their time, but they kept him on this leash ALL DAY! It was horrible. Also, there was one child that had been born with FAS and his head was really small in comparison to his body because of it and one worker would go around telling him that she was going to pop his head like a zit because she couldn't stand him. There was a family of children that were all of hispanic descent as well and most of the workers teased them horribly. Tying the one childs shoe laces together and laughing at them. One of the children said something about jumping over the fence around the playground and a teacher yelled 'sure you are, I bet you have a lot of practice with that don't ya.' I stayed for awhile because I thought I could honestly be the difference in these children's lives. The one nice teacher they had. But, I was getting picked on for being nice to the children! And, when I walked in on the workers in my daughter's class abusing her, while I was right there the whole day working! I stormed out of there with her and never went back. I was furious! And I'm hoping that someday they get cought for their crooked deeds!

Well, at least I learned a lesson about how horrible daycares really are. I wouldn't send my children to one for the world now.

I think I would have quit too. My kids have never been in a daycare center before, but my son has gone to several home daycare's. One when we were living in Illinois is really the only one I never had a problem with. My son did have a good babysitter before we moved out of town a few years ago, and since we just moved back up here she is going to start watching both my kids for me.
