Handing proposals is an extremely important function of the National Committee of the CPPCC, The proposals are the results of intensive study and broadly soliciting public opinions. To date, about 99 percent of the over 5,000 proposals submitted during last March's session have been handled. Over 3,000 journalists, both from China and overseas have registered for the sessions. over 800 foreign reporters, as well as about 440 journalists from the Hong Kong and Macao SAR's and Taiwan island, are registered for the political events.
