What do you think about global warming? How do you think we can slow this down?

I know they say the ice glaciers near ALaska and other areas are slowly melting away ..I don't know the rate of speed..and that we hear about global warming and the green house affect..What do you think we should do to stop the progress of this and thus lengthen the lifespan of our planet?

Global warming - does this prove global warming?
well, i know we need to be nicer to our earth but i do not know to much about it. maybe some people here can educate us more on the issue.

I am hoping too..there are so many people out there that say there are not enough educational topics..well, here is one..Surely there are informed people out there ..that know about global warming and the do's and don'ts

At this point I really don't know. I need to do some research on it but I've heard that recycling paper and other things would help.

i have heard that too and less use of aerosol sprays..I heard these sprays help cut down the ozone? Making the greenhouse effect progress..I might be completely wrong though, like way out in left field;)+

Plant more trees .Takes years for it to grow and produced more oxygen as well as cool down temperatures.

That's interesting that you say more trees..When someone above you said stop cutting down trees.. I thought that the trees prevent the rising temperatures?+

The United States already has 35% more trees than they did when Columbus landed over here. More trees leads to more water vapor in the air causing global warming. Global warming is a cycle and we can not stop it. 20 years ago everyone was concerned about the comming Ice Age because we had several years of below normal winter temptures and increasing polar ice caps. Doing what we can is good, but I would not panic.

Everybody talks about global warming and up to now it is one of the mst cold winters in Greece.1st of november -2 in Athens when the average low ..is 10 and max 18.i dont know it is so hard to believe this concept but i dont say it is not true.I guess we should reduce whatever helps gas emissions..but truth is this will never happen.States depend fully on petroleum and even if other countries do reduce it the emerging powers f China and India, will cover 100 times.so i dont really believe much can be done about it

Though what you say is truth..it is not very heartening:)+

lol - lol
The prevailing scientific opinion is that most of the warming over the past 50 yrs is attributed to human activities. The increaased Carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases are the primary human contributions( burning of fossil fuels, land clearing and agriculture etc.) About the us having more trees than when columbus landed here ....as if that was the first thing columbus did.......count the trees:) Though another theory has it that the increased warming has to do more with the solarsystems movement thru the galaxy:) though another theory states that without the forest clearing the earth would start cooling prolly (2 degs less than now) and we would be on our way to a new ice age:)

Thanks for your explanation of what you see is the cause and remedy for global warming..I am seeing some very different answers regarding this topic meaning I am going to wait a little longer on the best answer..till I do some research myself on the matter to let the one person know who is right;)+

global warming is something that we have to be concerned about..if not for our sake atleast for the sake of the coming generations. I've read about it and I think we can slow it down if we all make a conscious effort not to use aerosol sprays and to reduce air pollution. I've read that most of the gases emitted from vehicles erode the ozone layer. I know we can't live without our vehicles. But we can always reduce the number of vehicles on the roads at any given point of time by using public transport and carpooling whenever possible.
